Bad movies music video!

I made a music video to the song Safety Dance using all clips from this site! There's actually a neat story that lead to the making of it, which follows below if you want to read it. Or if you just want to go see, here it is on YouTube:

The story behind it...

Back in January 2003 my husband and I were hanging out. I had just cheered him up by demanding he watch the safety dance video. My GOD, what were those midgets on? It was like someone just decided to ask some Ren Fair people to flip out on camera, and gave them Chicken Masks.

Anyway, we download an Mp3 of it. Now, he has a bunch of clips from www.badmovies.org. He hit the KaZaa play button, then nine seconds later hit the Winamp play button, and make a very basic music video of Godzilla jumping up and dancing to the Safety Dance.

But we forgot he had an entire playlist of Badmovies.org clips.

We sit, stunned, and every single one of the is exactly the right length to synch SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY, exactly to Safety Dance. We are shocked as an invader from Planet X seems to perfectly deliver the line "they're no friends of mine."We giggle, amazingly, as an Alien from Bad Taste pops up to "act like we come from out of this world." Ninja armies that run to "we can go where we want to."

We sit in fascination as a sheep explodes at just the right beat. Ninjas, martial artists, ballerinas, more Godzilla, a scientist with a xylophone, a bed monster, and the Watermelon Monster all PERFECTLY deliver a dance number.

We've recreated it using WMV and WinAmp. And it STILL works. After much encouragement we decided someday to make a music video of it, where we can fine tune it and add in some other things too. This is that video, years later finally made.

If you would like to see what we saw that first night, here's the recipe for it! First you need an mp3 of the original Safety Dance song. Then you need to go to www.badmovies.org and download the following movies:

Godzilla Versus Monster Zero
Bad Taste
Cyber Ninja
Nine Deaths of the Ninja
Destroy All Monsters
Monster in the Closet
Drunken Wu-Tang

Arrange them in that order in one media player, on mute. On another media player, play the mp3. Start the videos at approx 8-9 seconds into the song. The test that you got it right is the guy from Planet X saying "no friends of mine" about 18 seconds in.

Now when I made this video in Premier, I considered what made each thing work in each area, and then arranged it and added much more. I hope you enjoy it!

I apologize for not catching this thread earlier.  We are in the middle of moving and trying to keep up with work at the unit is also keeping me.  

That was quite fun to watch.  Let alone the amusement in thinking how some people will see it and stare in disbelief, unable to comprehend that films like "Cyber Ninja" actually exist.  It was obvious that you put a lot of work into making the entire thing flow and fit together.

I thought it was pretty damn funny.  I knew after the first shot of Godzilla dancing that this video would be hilarious.  I actually posted it as a bulletin for everybody I know on MySpace.

I saw the viseo yesterday on Myspace...great work!  One of my favs still has to be Godzilla skipping in beat to the song.  I just love that.  I actually did it yesterday for my roommate lol.
