CUT THROATS NINE (1972) - This is a very gory Euro-Western made in Spain. There is real gore in this one to match any horror film out there. Seven convicts who are chained together are being transported by wagon and escorted by soldiers. They are ambushed by robbers looking for gold. The wagon is let go and crashes into a ravine and a soldier must walk the convicts and his daughter across the snowy mountains to a fort. You will be very surprised at who survives this journey as they discover that the very chains that hold the convicts are made of gold in the center. Watch as they meet their end one by one in the most grisly manner. Some parts drag a little, but you might want to catch this one if your a gore fan or a Western fan. The scenes are quite graphic with eyeballs, burn flesh, intestines hanging out, shootings, stabbings, and feet cut off. The story isn't bad, but it may have lost something in the dubbed translation. Then again it may be just a violent gore film. Check it out.

I rented this at a movie joint about ,gee, when they had movies on those big LP looking things back inna bout 82! Along with I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE. A VERY bizzare film, indeed, with a kinda supernatural ending,if my feeble memory is on track. What were those big video disc things called...God I'm old...

Laserdisk RCMerchant. There is the scene where the one convict goes on his own and starts to hallucinate seeing crows, vultures, and the man they just killed emerging from the burning house.

The end is not so pleasant. It was a rather explosive ending........

Neville if your out there here's a good one for you.

The film is worth seeking out. The beginning was kinda funny on the wagon with Spaghetti Western type jokes and dialogue. Then you have those bandido looking U.S. Calvary men in blue.

I still find it interesting how much Europeans appreciated the old West back in the 60's and 70's by making all of these films. Even if the Euro-Westerns are a Myth based on the American Westerns which where kinda mythical. A myth within a myth as someone once said. The Western expansion in the U.S. was one of the greatest events in recorded history. Very few today understand what happened back then and how important this piece of history is to the world psyche.

Another thing I heard was that European museums appreciate native American artifacts more than we do here in the U.S.. A tour guide told us some interesting info about this at the Hearst Castle when commenting on some California Chumash Indian pottery that is now in a French museum.
