WAR BETWEEN THE PLANETS (1966) - Enjoyable Italian Sci-Fi directed by Antonio Margheriti who also directed a couple other Sci-Fi films that I liked which include ASSIGNMENT OUTER SPACE (1961) and BATTLE OF THE WORLDS(1962). Earth seems to be having a series of natural catastraphes they believe are coming from space. They send out Commander Rod Jackson to see what's going on out there. Lots of great futuristic space moments from land vehicles to space walks all leading to a confrontation with a living planet. If you like your older Sci-Fi then you must see this one. This is not to be mistaken for WAR OF THE PLANETS shot a decade later. Dark Sky Films has put out this decent quality Drive-In Double Feature along with CREATION OF THE HUMANOIDS. Also on the DVD are some great trailers from THE FLESH EATERS, FRANKENSTIEN MEETS THE SPACE MONSTER, HORROR AT PARTY BEACH, DOG EAT DOG, and some fun intermission time clips from the old drive-ins.

This one looks interesting; I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

Thanks, Scott.  I do enjoy 50's and 60's sci fi's.

Antonio Margheriti directed some good ones and now I'm out to find more of his films.

Is this the one with Claude Rains as a professor?

The one with Claude Rains is BATTLE OF THE WORLDS.

WAR BETWEEN THE PLANETS is the better of the three space films I mentioned. Better in a B-movie kind of way that is.
