HOSTEL 2005 - This is a sick and disturbing film that somehow manages to redeem itself at the end. The story starts out with three guys in Amsterdam where they are in the red light district then meet someone after getting locked out of their hostel who suggest they go to Slovakia. While there they get more than they expected. This is film is well done and very chilling.

I sort of admired in awe the juiciest scenes, but was very dissapointed with the rest of the film, no discernible plot or characters. Yawn. I'd be happy if they had took the travelling through the warehouse and some of the gorier scenes and moved the rest to deleted scenes.

I have a question, though: do Americans in general feel offended at the way their film portrays them? The director claims in the interviews he was aiming at satire there, but it could well be that his characters are simply dumb.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

No, I didn't feel offended because I've met tons of people who act exactly like the guys in that film did.

As for the film, I was disappointed.
It could have been so much more.

Well, I thought the idea of a group of international people involved in this "elite hunting" was more interesting than the lone killer or psycho idea. This gave it a much more creepy feeling.

Admired the films effort to save the asian female.

Was surprised the more innocent friend ended up dead and that the crude American ended up surviving. Would have thought he would have been finished off.

They keep the escape from the building just right. Sometimes films have a tendency to use a building as a maze which is boring. The director of this film did a good job in my opinion.

I was let down when I saw this film. With all the hype, I really expected more. I found myself wanting the people to get killed off...not good when you wish for the main characters to die because they annoy you.

As far as being offended? Not at all. There are stupid people everywhere.

Hey, I haven't seen this film but I lived in Scotland for a couple of years and travelled in Ireland, Belgium, and the Netherlands and I can tell you for sure that there are a lot of stupid Americans running around. In fact that's not hard to tell living here.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.
