Ah, that was much better. THE HIDEOUS SUN DEMON really hit the spot after watching the disappointing FIEND WITHOUT A FACE. Good old monster with a radiation problem. No lessons learned from this film, just a good 50's film. ***1/2 stars out of *****.

There's a remake of it with mst3000/ Kung Pow type phony dialogue, done by some LA comics back in the eighties.  I think it was called return of hideous sun demon or something.  Was the last scene on a water tower?  that was funny

Scott

Yes, the last scene in HIDEOUS SUN DEMON is on a water tower. I think FIEND WITHOUT A FACE should have a remake. The idea of flying brains has the potential for a great movie.

I don't know why everyone's down on Fiend Without A Face. It's got spooky crap (the moaning weirdo who shows up at the meeting with his brain half et, "whoaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrhhhhhhh!"), a shower scene, totally outrageous malarky psuedoscience involving nuclear power, totally outrageous malarky psuedoscience-fiction involving though transference, stop-motion nightmare fuel, chick-in-a-sweater, and, of course, the astonishingly violent and gory climax. Plus one of those "loveable" old mad scientists ("Oh, dear, I've destroyed the world.").

(My "alternate ending:" blowing up the power plant causes some kind of boost to the transformation of thoughts into monsters--hey, it's all bullpoop anyway--so that EVERY thought born in the immediate vicinity suddenly becomes a brain-eater. The screaming heads of the entire cast spontaneously swell up and explode with "head-bursters" lunging from their broken craniums and eye sockets. Whoops. The end...or IS IT? Yes it is.)

Hideous Bun Demon, on the other hand, bored the pimplepoppin' crap out of me. Different strokes, I guess...not even the horrible phony "piano" bit could save it for me.

Squishy

...totally outrageous malarky psuedoscience-fiction involving "THOUGHT transference," not "though transference."

Yea, I think FIEND WITHOUT A FACE would make a great remake. The idea is great.

One of the few 50s sci fi movies I own and actually watched. Liked the sun demon costume a lot, probably the best part of the movie itself. I bought the dvd after hearing quite a few things about it.

FIEND WITHOUT A FACE: To be honest I think I fell asleep during the part were the officer clobbers the the flying brains, but since I seen the rest and have seen clips of this most memorable scene (now I didn't fall asleep from boredom, but was just up to late). The dialogue is ok. Its just that leading up to the climax the film shows an officer driving around in a jeep to much for even me mixed with scenes of people dying at the hands(or brains) of invisible brains till they show up on the actual film towards the end. I'm not saying I don't like it, but rather was expecting more from a much anticipated title.

Hidious Sun Demon : two words, extream Psorisis. Fiend with out a face : Jelly squirter. Odds on world domination; Hidious: 0%...Fiend 82% ( allowing  for Marshall Thompson factor). Most likely allies : Hidious : She-demon, Gill-man....Fiend: Donoven, Brain from planet Arous(Evil).

Man.......... you guys are beating me up. I'm going to have to rent FIEND WITHOUT A FACE again.
