"The Creature" by the bloke that wrote "Jaws" (Peter Blentchly?) is a true story too I've been told.

Actually, Peret Benencheletely's Great White is based on a true story. The half-man half-shark mutant hybrid wasn't actually killed, though, instead he works at a gas station in Middleton, Florida, where he earned "Employee of the Month" for six straight months. He has a wife, three kids, and a guppy named Suzette.

God knows what would happen if any of the mutant flying pirhana that were devised to beat the Viet Cong ever escaped into the beautiful warm waters around a tropical holiday island - one hates to think.

Actually, Benchley's The Beast is supposed to be true. Apparently he witnessed a Giant Squid (they have been proven to exist) and that's what inspired his obsession with sea creatures.
