I've been looking around the internet for some movie rumors and i was wondering if anyone could confirm/give more information on the following;
1) Jason X to be released on April 26th.  This would be great,  i miss good old fashioned slasher flicks.
2) A NOES prequel being made.  Once again,  i love slashers and i think Freddy is my favorite of all the killers.
3)Freddy vs. Jason.  One day i hear it's being made the next it's not.  I'm interested in how the story to this one would go/
4)Another "of the dead" movie by Romero.  I think i heard it'll be called Reckoning of the dead.

Well,  i was just hoping to get some answers and i thought who better to ask then my friends here.  Anything you can tell me is appreciated

Here goes- Jason X has been in the can for about two years now (which isn't a good sign) and quite a few people have seen screeners. It's not an old-fashioned slasher: It takes place hundreds of years in the future where Jason is picked up by a bunch of Aliens rip-off space travelers and Jason becomes Robo-Jason. Hmm...

Here goes- Romero has indeed finished a script for the fourth Living Dead film, tentatively called Dead Reckoning. It sort of branches out on the idea from Day Of The Dead: The zombies have spread to the point that only a few heavily guarded human cities are left, inhabited by handfuls of survivors. The story revolves around one city's inhabitants leading a last effort to destroy the undead. It's being produced by Anchor Bay (known for top-notch horror DVDs).

Wes Craven has mentioned an idea to go back and cover the origins of Freddy. Heather Langenkamp has said she might be involved, but that's all I've heard.

Whether or not Freddy Vs. Jason ever gets made depends on how well Jason X does at the box office. At one point Peter Jackson was going to direct, but he had to turn it down to do Lord Of The Rings. Dammit!

1) I heard that too. It all depended on how well LotR did. Same studio is putting out Jason X (newline I think), LotR nearly bankrupted them and they needed LotR to get them out, which it did! So expect Jason X soon!

2) I haven't heard abou this... I think Freddy is crappy as hell and he should only come back for FvsJ.

3) I heard that only a  script that both Kane Hodder (jason ) and Robert Englund (freddy) like will get the project going. And according to DD, theres one out there, but it won't get greenlighted until after Jason X comes out and the BO reciepts come in. At least over $20 million, to even consider it.

4) Yes, Romero has completed the script! Woohoo!! It's basically what JR said. Unfortunately George has alot on his plate right now. So it probably won't start filming until the end of the year or the start of 2003.

Thanks guys.  I did a little more looking and found a couple things myself.
1)April 26th seems like the final date for Jason X but after so long i'm still not putting money on it.
2)The NOES prequel is pretty certain.  Craven and Englund have both said they'd like to do it.  Don't worry though Scott,  if Jason X does bad in theaters NOES might go direct to video.
3)A new Halloween movie is coming out.  I'm not a big fan of Halloween myself and the script seemes weak to me but if you like Micheal Myers then you'll probably appreciate it.  You can get a quick summary of the plot at upcominghorrormovies.com.   Busta Rhymes is supposedly the lead role, wonderful........... Release date is May 2002
I was wondering what else Romero's working on now.  I figured since he got canned from Resident Evil he'd be pretty free to make Dead Reckoning.  Thanks again.

Hummm.......have a question. If the zombie population is made up on dead members of the former human population....how do these refuge citys keep getting more zombies to threaten them? If, say, chicago were fortified, and the zombies close enough to realise "Food" was near by were head shot by the Illinois National guard (First Locust, now this!)...where do the other zombies come from? Unless the zombies can "Breed"...ewwww!....then you should have a "Moat" of zombie cleared land, and there for the citys should be relitivly peacefull, i'd think. Do zombies migrate in search of what zombies crave? Could be. Might explain why they have to increase the ammo expenditure each year....So....total pre-zombie population defines available total of zombies....versus total number humans...hummm....seems if they knock off all the zombies close enough to realise city= dinner, they might just be able to solve the basic problim! Anybody want to turn this into a math equation?

For God's sake, isn't there a retirement home for these guys? Michael Myers is so damn old he should be pushing a walker slowly after Jamie Lee Curtis. And Freddy? If Robert Englund wasn't put to sleep for doing The Mangler, then his reprisal of Freddy in "NOES Part 21,768: Freddy Krueger's Beach Party"should get him put out to pasture with Dr. Phibes.

Why can't we come up with a new 'personality' slasher? Freddy was cool for the first 3 movies. Now we rely on some dork in a mask again. Maniac killers aren't that scary, but if we make them sinister and likable (a-la early Freddy and brother-man from American Psycho) they can last a while.
