I saw a free early screening of Resident Evil. It was pretty good, and will probably end up #1 this weekend. The only thing that bothers me is that Milla Jovolich has about 10 lines in the whole movie. I know she's European or at least has that accent, but she did a good job in The Messanger.

I reccomend it. There wasn't that much gore though.

Seriously though, it was awful right? What about Marylin Manson's (ugh) "electronic score"?

I'm checking it out this weekend sometime. I think it looks ok. Better than nothing right? I'm sure it'll be bad but it'll be fun to watch. Thats how I think it's going to be like. Bad, But fun to watch.

Instead they hire the not-so-well-known director of the MORTAL KOMBAT films. Hell, I don't even know who the guys name is. A prefect example of Hollywood not calling on a director who knows what he is doing. I think I will wait for RESIDENT EVIL to come out on video.

In addition to MORTAL COMBAT, Paul Anderson directed SOLDIER and EVENT HORIZON.

Me too! Event Horizon was brainlessly fun and Soldier had some good moments too, I liked both of them.

Actually, she doesn't have any accent, or if she does, she can do a perfect American accent. I've seen her in movies, commercials and interviews where she sounds completely American to me.

He was invited to leave during the development stages, or left under his own free will.  Those Artistic Differences everyone likes to blame.  Romero remains an iconoclastic and individualistic director.   He has chosen to walk off many projects that would not allow him to make the movie he wanted to.   Resident Evil is one such project.  Resident Evil is a franchise and the Corporate Micromanagers behind the project probably had their fingers too deeply in the creative pie they wanted what some call a 'teamplayer' and others call a 'yes man' depending on the situation.  That is the way it is when most movies are adapted from Games or Toys or even TV series, you make the movie you are told to make or you don't make it.

As for Anderson?  I loved Event Horizon and have high hopes that Resident Evil will be ninty minutes of stupid fun and monster mayhem.  Frankly I'd start questioning my reasoning power if I expected anything else.

On The Daily Show Milla said they worked for hours trying to think of a way to get her into skimpy clothing only to have her wear an evening dress that gets shorter and shorter. That's only a technique that's been used ABOUT 60 DOZEN OTHER TIMES!

As do I, really...weep for my dead brain cells!

Vincent Price

well screw me sideways and call me granny, but Mortal Kombat was simply a great adaption of the game!
Event Horizon was very cool and Soldier....well Soldier....it had Kurt Rusell. KURT RUSSEL DAMN YOU!

I'll be quiet now..

It always sounds like me that she at least has some sort of accent. Maybe its just the way she acts in the movies, as I've never seen an interview with her or anything, or the fact that she's spent so many movies saying nothing.

You forget, Manson was tutored by Trent Reznor at one point. Maybe its just because I love the Quake themes, but Manson's (if he did the WHOLE score) score was actually one of the better ones thats been put out in comparison to a lot of the half bit horror movies since Scream 1 came out. If there was anything I tought was great it was the music. I don't think it was Manson though as the Soundtrack was done by Roadrunner Records. But its probably much better with surrond sound as compared to TV Stereo
