Post Apocalyptic Films?

This is going to be a tough one. Looking for films that have a nuclear exchange and/or show current and future aftermath of such an exchange. Starting with 10 for now and there are many more than this, so let us add them to the list as we go and vote for our favorite.

The original "Planet of the Apes" is a great film, so that was an easy pick for me. A good movie, especially for the budget, is "Day the World Ended" from 1955 (I thought it was 56, but the IMDB says otherwise). Also, "On the Beach" from 1959.

For complete after the apocalypse silliness, my skeleton in the closet is "Radioactive Dreams." The movie is awful, but how can you not enjoy two guys who emerge from a nuclear bomb shelter and want to be classic "dancing dick" detectives. Oh, and George Kennedy with his rotary shotgun of explosive doom.

I think it was Steel Dawn.

For me, it would have to be Mad Max, but I'd have to make mention of Roller Blade, in which there's no gas for the cars, so everyone uses rollerskates to get around, while a gang of kung-fu ninja nympho nuns try to protect the earth from a psychotic hand puppet with a downright stupid affliction.

DAY the WORLD ENDED. The 3-eyed,4-armed,horned rubber monster.One of my favorite AIP monsters.
ZARDOZ is a bugged out movie.
I'd mention DAMNATION ALLY and LOGANS RUN,but I don't think anyone would vote for them.(OOPS!)

I voted for Road Warrior. The Planet of the Apes is a close second, and possibly a better film, but the POTA films don't really feel like post-apocalyptic films to me. I know they are, but they are set so far past the apocalypse that, even though they talk about it and end up even showing how it all came about, they feel like a genre unto themselves. Mad Max is also a better film than Road Warrior, but RW is just more fun to watch for me, with the growling animal child and the '80s hair and all, as well as the ultimate futility of all of Max's efforts to help. I could do without Lord Humungus's toady's butt-cheek cutouts, but, then, I guess no film is perfect.

I went with Mad Max. Damnation Alley is another good one, and let's not forget Hell Comes To Frogtown and the immortal Rollerblade Warriors trilogy!

Someone else mentioned the missing HELL COMES TO FROGTOWN and for completeness I'd add HARDWARE. There are doubtless others.

It's really hard to pick just one, since they span genres. For 'serious,' I'd have to go with the original PLANET OF THE APES. For action, it would be THE ROAD WARRIOR.

Wasn't CHERRY 2000 a Post Apocalytic film? I only saw the middle part so far.

There are some great films on that list but RW will always be my favorite film. There's just so much about that film and it also holds memories for me when I was growing up.
Planet of the Apes is close to it though because I loved that when I was a kid...I had all the toys for it.

I will always give "The Road Warrior" due respect. I have good memories of watching it as a much younger lad. In fact, I remember, way back in my early Marine Corps days, having a long discussion with some other Marines about the film. It was probably a mix of Marines and Sailors, come to think of it. Anyway, a fun film.

I think so, as I remember the idea that some of the outlands were dangerous. Another big part of the movie was that natural resources were limited - whether from exhaustion or limited extraction efforts.
