I can't remember if we've talked about soft drinks before so I figured I'd drop a new poll.

How about you?
What's your favorite soft drink?

I'm focusing only on major brands.  I specifically decided not to delve into some of the little known brands.  I've also decided to not split hairs and include "diet" versions of each soda.

Do you call it "pop", soda" or something else?

Are there other soft drinks besides Dr Pepper?  :tongueout:

Not to get too nitpicky, Ash, but there is no period after the "Dr" in Dr Pepper. It was done away with some time ago. Down here in Texas, we take our hometown soda seriously (Dr Pepper was invented in Waco).  :teddyr:

You're right Derf.
I should've known that...

I love Dr Pepper....but it's easy to drink too much of it...like Forrest Gump did during his visit to the White House.   :drink:

I stopped drinking soda months ago. Don't really care for in. Rarely before I stopped drinking soda I would drink Sprite. Now I drink iced tea or water.
Most of all I hate dancing then work, exercise, people, stupidpeople

Mt. Dew is my addiction. It's funny now that they make it out to be so cool in the ads. When Pepsi introduced back in the 60's in came in bottles with hillbillies on them and said something like Bottled by Jeb on them.  Gee, now I really feel prehistoric.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

LOL I don't have any of these drinks in shops (eg. Faygo, Mello Yello, Shasta) and second half I hate (Pepsi, Fanta etc). Root beers are only in one pub and it is simple mix of ordinary beer with ginger juice or something like that.  :bouncegiggle:

But I'd like to try a Faygo, too big influence of ICP's music hehe

I like Verners,but drink RC Cola cuz it's cheaper.Plus it's called RC!(Oh yeah,we call it pop.)

Coca-Cola for me. I am totally addicted to it. I drink it with EVERYTHING. No matter how cold it is in the morning, I'd rather have a coke than a hot cup of coffee. I go through about two cases (24 cans) a week. I've been drinking it at that rate for years. I figured out once that I've consumed enough of it over the last 20 years to fill a decent sized swimming pool.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

If there's a thread that will give you diabetes just reading it, I'm sure we've come close.

I remember a friend's little sister who would have coke with her cereal [as in, instead of milk 'with']  That was pretty bad.

I have to say I'm a Coca-cola slave.  Very much so in fact.  But then again we don't have half of the brands that you folk have in the states.

I mean, we don't even call it soda or pop.  Usually people just generalise 'coke' when asking for cola [which I suppose is a result of excellent marketing here] or fizzy drink etc.

Now the real question is, is it best out of a glass or plastic bottle or out of a can?

I feel these questions are the important ones.

Personally my order of preference is Glass, Can then Plastic, but like I said before, I'm a slave, so I tend to go more for the plastic for the sheer volume.

Definitely glass.
I think most soda tastes terrible out of plastic.
But since 99.99% of all soft drinks are sold in plastic containers these days, I have to put up with it.

And dean...when I was down in OZ, I do remember everyone calling all soft drinks "coke" no matter what brand it was.

Had to go with Surge.  That stuff was pure nectar from Heaven.  Don't know why they quit making it.....

Now I have to drink Vault to satisfy my Surge cravings.   Just not the same though.

Also, around here we just call it "drink".  You'd be laughed out of a store if you asked for "pop"

As a rule, I'm generally impartial to colas, but I'll occasionally treat myself to a Yoo-Hoo.

Personally I've always wished that somebody would come out with Peppermint Soda, for, uh, well, you know.

I drink bottled water, but when at a restruant or someplace  and I didn't bring water and they don't offer bottled water then I order Coke or Pepsi. When I was a kid I kinda liked Orange soda and Root Beer.

Coca-Cola.

I've gone through a phase where I was a Barq's man. How I used to drive my family crazy to get that stuff ever time we went on a trip down I-65. the nearest place to get it was a gas station outside Cullman. We'd bring back cases of the stuff that I'd burn through in no time. By the time it was available here, I lost my taste for it.

I was an RC man for a while, paid for a whole summer's worth of them once with tag team "one free RC Cola" caps everytime I went to the store. I even tried their failed Draft RC Cola, it came in a rather beer-like bottle, the guy at the store carded me for it! Now RC is too sweet for me. It was too many summer of buying 99 cent six-packs at  Foodland.

But I always came back to Coke. But as I get older and take better care of myself, I can rarely have more than two in one day without just get sick of the second one.

In Alabama (and much of the South) every soft drink is a "coke", the fast food places that serve Pepsi products have to tell you they don't have coke or ask "What kind?" When I lived in DC, I had this problem all the time, good thing I liked Coca-Cola.

When Brits (and others) call them "fizzy drinks" I find it quaint for some goofy reason, but in a good way.
