BLEEDERS has some truly awful monsters.  It's a 90s film, but has very 80s sensibililties IMO.

Just Plain Horse

God, Blue Monkey was just shy of a mindless wanna-be 50's bug flick. I never saw The Kindred, but I remember seeing the videocassette cover for it time and time again during the golden age of rentals: "Anthony isn't your typical kind of bottle baby". Hee hee...

From Beyond, one of the lesser known HP Lovecraft movies.

MGM is supposed to be releasing a special edition unrated restored director's cut of From Beyond anytime now.

And there's Alien Contamination or it is also called Contamination.  You have to wade through really mind-numbing stuff to get to the monster, but it is a nasty-looking sumb***h.

Beware the scene in which the heroine cries, "Help me! I'm locked in here with an egg!! Please, someone!!"

I thought of another one.  Deadly Eyes.  It's not really monsters  but rats mutated to be small dog size by eating grain that has steroids in it.  I still remember the part in the film where the baby's high chair had been knocked over and there was a trail of blood on the floor from where it was being dragged off.  Very unsettling.

Hahaha!  That brings back memories.  The upgraded version of The Killer Shrews!  I have that one, in one of those big, ugly VHS cases that take up twice as much room as they should.  Keep thinking about reviewing it, because so few movies feature a pack of dashhounds wearing rat costumes.

EDIT: Fixed the URL to "The Killer Shrews"
