Wow, how did I ever miss this news?  The classic b-movie "The Manitou" will be released by Anchor Bay in March.  Woman gets a pimple on the back of her neck which turns out to be an ancient medicine man being reborn.  Before it is over, an entire hospital is taken over by the manitou and a battle of old magic and computer magic takes place in outer space.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Yup, I plan on ditching my old DVD-R of the film and picking this bad boy up. One of the craziest endings to a film... ever!  :buggedout: :bouncegiggle:

I have this on LD, but have put the DVD on preorder.  Man, an Anchor Bay release of "The Manitou."  Maybe they are still doing good work for the lesser seen cult flicks.

MANITOU sounds like a winner . Will be looking for it. Kinda reminds me of MANSTER.

I have a review for it here:

Anyone who likes the goofy sort of horror/b-movies that came out in the 70's should give it a try.

I liked this film, mainly because about a year or so before it came out I read the Graham Masterton novel it's based on. This movie is pretty true to the book, more or less, although the story is is fairly good , the effects are kind of dated but for 1978 they were pretty good, all in all an enjoyable  movie. I plan to get the DVD as soon as I can.

Used to love to catch this on TNT years back when they were stiil fun. This movie was just so loopy and pure 70s, from the effects and story, to that cast. Lots of familiar names and faces fleshing out the cast, like they figured that several character actors and past their prime stars could add up to the same star power of one or two big names.

Plus I have somekind of weird fascination to watch anything with bloated 70s era Tony Curtis - with or without the rug. He was like a coked up proto-Shatner.
blah blah stuff blah blah obscure pop culture reference blah blah clever turn of phrase blah blah bad pun blah blah bad link blah blah zzzz.....

I read the novel back in the 70's and was excited when they made a movie out of it. I was working at the local drive in while going to school on the GI bill when the movie came out so I watched it at work. I think I've seen it on tv at least once.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.
