Come on. Whose gonna take the time to engineer all those traps?

The ending was bogus. Like the main villian is going to lie there all that time and not move?

If you wanted people dead, you'd cut though all booby trap bulls**t and kill them outright. I can understand if you were a warped killer and wanted to mess with people's minds, but some of this stuff, while "clever" and "original" was way **over the top**. Why go through all that work and planning? There must be simpler ways to torture and kill people.

Anyway:

1) The acting was feeble. Not to mention the dialogue.

2) The direction was equally pathetic. Nothing was subtle or artistic. The movie was shot like it was an MTV video.

3) That climatic chase between Danny Glover and that other guy was laughible the way it was sped up. It was like something out of a comedy.

4) The gore didn't phase me one bit. The shock factor wasn't there.

5) Whatever "suspense" was there was undermined by virtually everything else that went wrong in the movie.

6) Most of the plot twists were so damn contrived. I sat there wondering- "When's the next twist  going to happen?" **The only twist I liked was that the guy that was made out to be the main villian wasn't, but actually another victim stuck in a trap.**

7) I certainly didn't care about the main characters. By the end, they annoyed me so much, I wanted them to be killed off.

8) Not scary.

All in all, this thing played out like a direct-to-dvd movie.

What's the point of seeing the sequels? Since all it is is different, creative ways for people to get trapped and die.

Don't feel alone.I thought SAW was a over rated piece of crap myself. The fast forward camerea moves irritated the hell outta me and were very distacting.

When Saw first came out I went to theater to see it. I didn't get the hype over it. While the villain has a interesting twist about him and his methods I though overall it was ok.

I rented the 2 one and thought the same. The third one I will rent and see probably think the same of it.

All these torture films are getting tiresome. And they keep going with other Saw coming out and Hostel.

I've always said that Saw was kind of a dumbed down version of Se7en (this might have been because the ads said 'best horror film since se7en') when I wrote my review I always liked how I ended... "I'll admit... I didn't see the ending coming... but guess what Saw... by that point I didn't care how this piece of s**t was going to end"

Did you the trailer for the their new movie? It looks really original... it's about a dead woman's ghost (who looks like very ghost in movies these days <ie. grudge/the ring>) who's dolls come to life and kill people!? DOLLS THAT COME TO LIFE! UNHEARD OF! HOW ORIGINAL!

it's things like this that makes me really get off my ass and start writing my movie ideas

he didnt want them dead he wanted to "help" them and thats how he saw it through his eyes, he wanted them to value their lives instead of doing things like shooting heroine and cheating on their wives ect. he did it in an extreme way to ensure that they learn their lesson, for example how many times have you seen druggies go to rehab then start using after they get out? they dont learn a thing because their lives arent on the line. in this case jigsaw takes rehab a step further, there was a method to the madness. whether you can dig that or not is up to you but thats the deal at hand. oh they werent booby traps, jigsaw told them straight up what the devices were and what they would do, the victims were quite aware.

how original can your story be? i would love to see you write a horror movie let alone come up with another idea that doesnt directly or indirectly borrorow from one horror movie or another. lets get real, you can only do so much before you cant reuse an element or two, know what i mean? shes looks like a ghost of an old woman, what the f**k do you want her to look like? it looks pretty descent im pretty sure the dolls dont come alive more or less the old lady posses them. i like the idea that she was a ventrilouquist that was lynched for the dissapearance of a boy and her tounge was cut out now shes a vengful ghost. idk dont count your chickens before they hatch.

as for the comparison of seven and saw i dont see the connection other than that here we have two guys that kill people(while the latter doesnt really kill people so to speak and doesnt want them dead) for different reasons, one for self help, and the other the seven deadly sins. at first glance i can see how they could get confused but if you sat and watched both movies they are quite different. as far as what critics say they could all go to hell for all i care, i decide if its good they dont decide for me, and those of you who judge things before giving them a chance doesnt make sense at least view it before you bash it. Saw isnt as horrbile as you guys are makin it out to be, it might not have been the best but it sure as hell wasnt the worst and at the time it was released it was a nice breath of fresh air into the genre. the only thing i didnt like was the fast mtv camera style in some parts.

the reason you are so sick of torture movies are because of the sucess of hostel and saw everyone rushed out and started making torture films, while hostel also was a breath of fresh air at the time that it was released, i dont know how much more original you can get with that flick. an undeground buisness where people can buy any ethnicity of human and kill them at their liesure and three friends who get chosen to be put up for sale and have to try to fight to for their lives. idk i thought that was a pretty good plot and was executed well. if you havent seen it till now of course it looses something cause youve probably seen or heard of a bunch of clones, same with saw. i like hostel and saw alot i dont love them but i like em, saw 3 was great i didnt like saw 2 cause that movie just relied on killing everyone instead of story and was super rushed at the end, which i didnt really dig. as for hostel 2 i think its gonna be pretty sweet.

I loved Hostel... but I'm a big Eli Roth fan... I definately liked Cabin Fever more than Hostel though

Yea, im getting really sick of torture and slasher fliks myself. Come to think of it, i was NEVER  really a fan of that genre. What ever happened to good ol' Monster and alien movies? Those are the BEST, man!

And on another note, ya know what im getting damn sick of? Movies that try to pass off little kids as being scary. They just wind up dumb or funny. The Omen, The grudge, even the little kid who was wispering in the trailer for "LADY IN THE WATER". It just not scary. It never really was. Its just annoying.

well its not my interpretation, they straight up tell you. (though i think they explain it in the second one, if they do, my bad)

I saw "Saw" in the theater with a bunch of friends.

I actually predicted the ending within the 1st 15 minutes.

Plus, I got a ton of people laughing when they showed the blubbering Danny Glover overacting like the world's going to end after that particular take.

Anyway, I muttered loudly "I'm too old for this sh*t!"  From  that point on whenever they would show Glover, people would just start laughing/snickering.

Not to be a namby-pamby, but please try to watch the spelling a bit, folks!
It just makes things easier to read if there's some attention paid to what you're typing.
Eg:  "Heroin" is a drug, a favorite of William S. Burroughs.  A "heroine" is a female hero of a story or novel.
I don't mean to pick, as there are other examples, but please take a bit o' time an sperr korektlee sum wirds, as it meeks eet hurd fufffsrrr old folks like mi to follor.

I have no idea what this means.

I don't get the negativity myself, the first film was a pretty excellent psychological horror film, I thought. Well-paced, well-plotted, clever ending (well done those of you who spotted it, I didn't and neither did the vast majority of people who saw it).

The sequel was a piece of s**t and I've not seen the third film yet, but Saw 1 was a damn good film.
