what is the best zombie movie in anybody's opinion.

I think we've long since abandoned the 'best zombie movies' question, and are simply compiling the most comprehensive list possible. In that case, we can't forget Friday the 13th, parts 6 to 8.

I have to say that my favorite zombie movies of all time are (in no particular order) George Romero's Dawn of the Dead(you've got to like a movie whose original working title was "Chopping Mall"), Dead Alive(Peter Jackson is my favorite Jackson), and of course Night of the Living Dad, beacuse without it, where would we all be(probably still living with our parents)?

Blasphamy! And when i get my hands on that dvd that is being shipped via amazon and get some time next weekend (if i'm not working), i'll be posting a nice little mini-review with pics.

I LOVE bad movies. Whats not to love?



  • Sluts will survive any apocalyptic scenario (just not a slasher film)
  • The Teenage girls just happen to be handy with an oozie
  • And drive a motorcycle
  • And get top score on Asteroids
  • And fight off zombies
  • Its the end of the world, what do they do? Go to the Mall!
  • Zombies like to hang out at the mall, too
  • Government installations don't put much thought into ventilation systems


And arguably, it was rather greedy for the older sister not to share the last man on earth (well before the hunk drives up at the end). I mean, assuming they have to re-populate the planet, monogamy isn't really an option now is it? tsk tsk

Also I'd have to wonder if the food/plants were exposed. It would only be a matter of time...

Now it's not the best zombie film - but it is a b-movie among zombie films.

Night of the Comet was awesome.  I've seen that movie so many times, and lately it's been on one of the movie channels all the time, so I've been enjoying myself.  

Susan, I too have thought about the plants and whatnot being exposed, but I guess we're not supposed to put that much thought into it.   :smile:

Other fave zombie flicks...Dawn (both of them, actually), Dead Alive, Cemetery Man, Zombie (or Zombi 2, whatever).  I love zombies, they're my favorite genre.  I'm actually doing an College English research paper on the Evolution of Zombies in Entertainment.  hehe.

I like Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, and lastly Night of the Comet. I've enjoyed all three movies every time I've watched them.

The original Dawn of the Dead, just because.
Night I shouldn't even have to mention.
Return of the Living Dead is great, plus it is so 80's.
I have a special place in my heart for Slither.
Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!

Those three cover all the bases, classic zombie, modern zombie, and zombie humor. Shaun of the Dead is very good, too, and special mention must be made of Fulci's twisted House by the Cemetary.

So, no, this ain't one of mine -- Best Zombies?  I don't even like Zombies as a genre -- Yeah, I like "Shaun" as a film - I guess, were I to actually give an opinion, I'd say "Invisible Invaders", because that's where George Romero STOLE all his "Zombiefication" stuff from.

Zombie (Lucio Fulci)

The only thing that I don't like is that there's never been a South African zombie film. Now that would really be funny.  :teddyr:

dude......no. explaining why jason voorheese keeps coming back, i cannot give a straight answer but im gonna go with the eternal evil that is explained in jason goes to hell, and thats as far as im going with that.

did you see slither? or just the trailer? this movie is about an alien life-form that comes to earth and proceeds to ingest all living things on this planet ultimatley wiping it clean of organic life. now, the alien or "Grant Grant" sticks these spiked phallus appendages into his victims stomachs emitting this substance that makes people eat and eat and eat ect. until they are the size of a house,and a house they are indeed. each person is a host to hundreds of slug like parasites that must enter through the mouth of an animal in order to take control of their body, and act as a security camera/supplier for the main alien(Grant Grant). i dont consider these people being controlled by an alien parasite's zombies, they are people controlled by alien parasites, period. if your going to consider this film a zombie film then why not consider "The Puppet Masters" or "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers"? no you wanna know why? cause they are movies about aliens taking over peoples bodies, not the undead rising from the grave. i dont think that a person being animated because of an intelligent host counts as a zombie.
