I was just watching Alone in the Dark (1982) for the umpteenth time, and it struck me; although the scene where Bleeder offs a looter in the shopping center parking lot has him wearing a hockey mask has been presumed to be a take-off on Jason from [the Friday the 13th movies, the movie itself was released in the same year, and only 3 months later than Friday the 13th: Part III in 3D (F13 was realeased on August 13 while Alone was released on November 12), which is when Jason first dons the hockey mask.

No...Bleeder...Not Jason

According to http://www.best-horror-movies.com/alone-in-the-dark.html Alone in the Dark was actually filmed first, but released at a later date.

Another item of interest is that Bleeder (Phillip Clark) appears to have grown several inches in that one scene; he actually appears to be as tall as Fatty (Erland van Lidth; who stands 6' 6" himself).

I find it interesting; the idea that the tall, hockey mask wearing psycho may well have originated in a film which had traditionally been thought to have duplicated the character.

I always thought that it was a p**s take on Jason,too...wow..now it bugs me...were any of the cast or crew involved in ALONE involved in FRIDAY III...? I wonder...hmmm... I must research!...
