Just want to say goodbye for the time being.............and he's back!

Ho to all, thanks for the good wishes and I wish I could have taken all of you with me there. Sun, fresh air, mountains that stay green all year round, good food, the sea (although quite a few miles away), lovely, wish I could live there permanently.  Image Google the words Outeniqua Mountains and you'll see what I mean regarding their beauty. 

The festival got off to a bad start ~ my company was dissed in the papers here for their previous efforts at the previous film festivals and I didn't feel too OK about that, seeing as how I did all those shows. I had a chance to talk to the person who wrote that syndicated article and set him straight, telling him that the Film Archives had reached thousands of people with the previous screenings and that we deserved better than that.       

The screenings this year were however not well attended at all ~ the films that I screened had about ten or so people at each screening while I am used to full houses there. The only films that did well were the Afrikaans film Ouma Se Slim Kind (Granny's Clever Child) and the religious drama Faith Like Potatoes which you can find at www.faithlikepotatoes.com. The latter film is about the SA farmer Angus Buchan who turned his life around and became a leader in his Kwazulu Natal community ~ quite an inspiring film.

I just hope that the screenings next year will be better and that some of you good people will be able to join me there!

Yes, welcome back, Trevor. Sorry things weren't better attended. But it sounds like you had a good time anyway.

RCM's right, but it was the combination of "ho" with some other words that did him in. Always knew talking with Bernard would get him in trouble.
