anyone everheard of this know this movie?

I can't remember the name of this movie. It starts out in a confederate prison camp where some union prisoners escape in a balloon. Somehow they drift all the way to the other side of the world. Then they land on a mysterious island where they meet up with some women survivors who were shipwrecked there. The weird thing about the island is every animal and plant is giant. One of the crabs that attack the group are bigger than a truck. eventually they meet up with Captain Nemo (the one who was captain of the Nautilus) who is responsible for making the animals and plants into giants. Later on they learn the island is volcanic and it is evident that an eruption is on the way, so they develop a plan too escape by raising the ship that had crashed on the rocks shipwrecking the women there in the first place. They all make it off the island with Nemo's research except for Captain Nemo who is killed in the volcanic blast.

Soon as I read your description my first thought was "Mysterious Island." My second thought was that there had to be a review for it on Scifilm.org. Gerry beat me to it.

When are they going to release the next movie on DVD? I remember it and would like to see it again.

I thought the confederate was killed too, I noticed one man short of the castaways when they escaped.

thanks for the welcome and the black guy , neb, was killed by the giant crab. The confederate might have been killed too. It's been a fews years since i have seen the movie.
