Saw this yesterday at our Brussels International Fantasy Film Festival (introduced by the director and some zombie sheep). I was looking forward to it, but it doesn't quite live up to expectations

It is basically Braindead with sheep. This still makes for quite an enjoyable movie, but it lacks the weird humour of the early Peter Jackson (no barbed wire prams in this one). Black Sheep relies less on strange jokes than on 'gross out' moments. Not for people with a weak stomach. There are some Peter Jackson touches in it, such as a recurrent theme of food, and a homage to the lawnmower scene.

The sheep are pretty good though, and the weresheep transformations are done in traditional werewolf style (cracking of bones, elongating snouts). It is not easy to make grazing animals look threatening (Night of the Lepus!), yet here they pull it off.

So what is the verdict? If you have a chance, definitely go and see it. It is fun, it is fast moving, it uses all the clichés, and greenhouse gases play a crucial role. Only, it has been done before by Peter Jackson in Braindead (and done better, at that).

I can't wait for this film! It comes to Finland in July, thats way too long! This is one of the must sees for this year, along with "Worst case scenario" (Nazizombie flick, what could go wrong with that?  :bouncegiggle: )

Wait a minute... aat what point does Chris Farley turn into a were-sheep that David Spade has to run over with a barbed wire lawn mower?!

It kind of sound like The Killer Shrews (1959).  Do they have sheep with bath mats on them to make them look scary?  :teddyr:

The trailer is freaking hilarious.

I was wondering if the actual film lived up to the great trailer or not.

Well, as I said, the shadow of Braindead hangs rather heavily over it. Still, definitely worth seeing.

There again, this is one film I was waiting to open in my local area, but looking at the stills from the film, I may give this one a pass. I don't know whether my stomach is strong enough to take it, and vomit is so hard to get off of one's boots.

Never heard of it. But just by looking at the pictures...I would Definitly see it...and if it was half as cool as the photos, buy it!
