Heath Ledger has been casted as the Joker in the next Batman movie.

Its just not doin' it for me.

How could they do such a CRAPPY casting job? Baman Begins was just so COOL, And then, prettyboy Heath Ledger is anounced to play the manic homicidal clown prince of crime. Why not Robin Williams, or Mark Hamill, Adrean Brody? (spelling error?)

Man, they had better be able to pull this off, thats all I got to say.

Nobody will beat Jack Nicholson.

Btw, you might want to change the title of this thread to something relevant to it's content to get people's attention.

Those are some weird lookin' fake photos.

I'm not forming an opinion until I see what he really looks like in character.

How about nominating an actor who would be better in the role?

I nominate Matt Frewer

Yes, he was the original Max Headroom.

He is 6' 3" (he seems taller), so he has the height to play the Joker. He can be one of the creepiest characters or can go completely over the top. Seems to fit.

I can see Frewer...he's a bit gaunt now(have ya seen DAWN OF THE DEAD?) but he's got the right chops for it.

The problem is that the studios will always cast roles based on putting "a$$e$" in the seats rather than with an eye towards who works(don't get me started on the I AM LEGEND coming the end of this year!!!).

My vote would go to John Glover though.  While clearly born to be part of BATMAN's Rogues Gallery, they squandered him in SCREWmacher's hatefully s**tty BATMAN & ROBIN.  He also did the voice of The Riddler on the animated series, a role he could just as equally excel in.

I say give Ledger a shot, I'm not surprised they put a big name in the role, maybe he'll surprise us. Until they pull a Batman and Robin or Batman Forever with this version of the franchise, I'll let it slide. Remember how reluctant people were to give Michael Keaton a shot as the Dark Knight.

I could see Frewer at an earlier point in time, but not now from Hollywood's perspective, he's a character actor and TV guest role actor these days.

Who did he play in Batman and Robin? I'd go watch it again to find out, but.........oohhhh......please don't make me watch it again.

He was Dr Jason Woodrue, a non mutated version of his Floronic Man persona....one of those 'floating' DC Comics characters that appear here and there.  In BATMAN & ROBIN he's reduced to a sleazy botanichemist or something with a plan to start a bidding war over his creations between the cartoonishly cliched assortment of dictators and generalisimos assembled at his lab.  If this plot point reminds you of another super-hero film series flushed into the East River, it should.

Squandered!  Squandered I tell you!

Y'know...
I think Heath looks pretty darn cool as the Joker!

Granted, he'll probably look a bit different in the movie.
They'll dress him up with better makeup and clothes...etc...

I say he's a great choice.

Let's see if he has what it takes to face Batman.

Jack Nicholson. Again.

I think William DeFao would be cool!

Why not? I trust that Christopher Nolan has a different take on the Joker and that it will be scary as hell, the same way he made Batman scary.  Ledger is a good actor and I think he will do a good job.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.
