The "genius" behind such beloved garbage as Rats: Night of Terror, Hell of the Living Dead, Shocking Dark and Zombi 3 passed away on Monday, May 21st. The trailer for his final movie, Zombies: the Beginning, can be seen here.

I think that of all the movies that ripped off Dawn of the Dead, Hell of the Living Dead was one of my favorites thanks to it's excessive gore and violence, which was only enhanced by the reaking cheese odor.  :teddyr:

"Don't make me stain my last clean shirt with the back of your head." - Shatter Dead
"A grizzly bear with a chainsaw. Now THERE's a killing machine!" - The Simpsons
"I've always wanted to make love to an angry welder." - Jaws: the Revenge

His movies aside, at least the man will always have the distinguished legacy of being the director with the most aliases!

I don't know, Fred Olen Ray seems to have quite a few.

Never mind, I just checked Mattei's profile again.  22 aliases?

I was not even aware that he was still alive.  His death is still painful though as I'm one of the few that actually enjoy his films.  Hell Of The Living Dead ranks above Zombi in my opinion as it's a really fun b-movie.

R.I.P Bruno.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

R.I.P.

And I mean that literally. I don't want to hear about his return as a zombie...

While much maligned, I still love his films.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Joe the Destroyer

I felt bad that I read that and thought, "He was still alive?"

In any case, I'm a fan of HotLD, but I have yet to see any of his other movies.  I did want to see his other off-shoot sequels, like Terminator 2 (not the one you're thinking of), and Cruel Jaws.  Even if they are really painful.

Scott

He certainly did some great filmmaking.

Torgo

He was supposed to be geuinely nice guy who made absolutely no apologies for his films.  He realizes that they were crap and he was just trying to keep working during those days.

I'll have to watch Rats and Hell of the Living Dead tonight as a tribute.
