My Dog Dreams....

 As I am sitting here,my dog,Ted,is sleeping. He occasionally kicks his back legs,and gives out little woofs...he's dreaming. He's a good size mutt...an old boy...I wonder what he's dreaming about. It's funny-"Woof. woof."  I have no idea why I posted this.

Funny, my current dog doesn't seem to dream that much -- don't get the leg shaking or the "woof, woof" very ofter, but other dogs I've had did that all the time.

I have no idea why I posted this. 

It's a human curiosity that our dogs kick and bark during sleep. It kinda tells us that they have a life beyond the their waking moments just like we do. My dog "Kiano" didn't really know how to bark completely when we picked him up at the mall pet shop. My dog had to learn to bark properly. While on vacations we would take him to the kennel where he learned how to really bark. He gets so ferocious when he sees the nieghbors dogs going out. I tell him that they are his buddies next door, but he doesn't listen and barks loud with hair standing up on his back. When he gets close they are all buddies again.

Often I think about a senario were we have an intruder trying to get in the house and he goes over to greet him and tells the intruder "Yes, come right in" with tail wagging. Asking the intruder if he wants to play with his toy orange broomstick dog. Japanese Chins are not guard dogs.

At the mall pet shop they wanted $500 for him and I thought it was to much. Knowing that he wasn't a puppy anymore I made an offer of $300 and the worker called his manager and the manager said "ok". Then I became concerned for a moment and ask the store people if they had dropped him on his head or something.

My cat sometimes hisses and growls in his sleep.  Nightmares?

My cats twitch, snarl, and act like they're either fighting savagely or hunting while they sleep.  It's pretty funny, especially when the one so aptly named Dufus will wake himself up, then jump a foot in the air because he scared himself.

When my brother died, we took in his ancient and decrepit Dalmatian.  That dog had been a pampered (spoiled) house puppy all her life.  We are on a farm.   We did keep her in the house, but she learned the outdoor doggie joys of chasing cats up trees, dispersing the geese at the pond and midnight dashes after bunny rabbits.  (Her 'dashes' were slow-speed due to arthritis, but heartfelt).  She would lie asleep in her dog bed, legs pedalling furiously, chasing bunnies in her dreams much faster than she could in real life.  I'm glad she had that.  She could really move when she was younger.

My dog was the same. When he was asleep, he'd make sounds, move his legs, etc.
