TULSA, Okla. - A concrete vault encasing a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere buried a half-century ago may have been built to withstand a nuclear attack but it couldn't beat back the natural onslaught of moisture. At a Friday ceremony complete with a couple of drum rolls, crews removed a multilayered protective wrapping caked with red mud, revealing a vintage vehicle that was covered in rust and wouldn't crank. . .

That's so sad!  :bluesad:

Tucked away in a corner of my grandparents' barn was a similarly gorgeous Plymouth, 1960 I think.  Theirs was in considerably better condition though.  I used to sit in the driver's seat in an imaginative one-man version of Cops and Robbers.  They sold it with the farm about 15 years ago, not realizing anyone wanted it.  Haha.  Story of my life...

My step Grandpa Bonarski ( now you KNOW I'm from Michigan!) usta have an ancient pickup parked in back of their barn would sit in the drivers seat, yanking on the sterring wheel, pretending I was Clyde Barrow...running from coppers!  :bouncegiggle:

My dad used to have four Simcas from the early 60s; two that ran and two for parts.
They had engines in the rear and were air cooled, just like VW Bugs.

Boy, I wish I still had one of those.

Another cool car my dad had was a 1972 Mazda RX-2 with a rotory engine. I got to drive it a couple of times before it caught fire and burned on the side of the road.
