Went on a bit of a buying spree on Amazon and DeepDiscount last night.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Recently picked this up. It's one of my all-time faves.

These are the ones that I can think of that I bought within the past 30 days or so:

* EXODUS
* THE ONION FIELD
* ROBOT JOX
* PLATOON
* BREAKHEART PASS
* WILD AT HEART
* NEW YORK, NEW YORK
* THE GOOD SHEPHERD
* M*A*S*H
* BLADE: TRINITY
* A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE
* JEREMIAH JOHNSON
* SLING BLADE
* HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER
* AIRPLANE!
* TERMS OF ENDEARMENT
* A MAN APART
* PRETTY IN PINK
* GORILLAS IN THE MIST
* DEAN MARTIN & JERRY LEWIS BOXED SET (VOLUME 1)
* MISERY

How's that for variety?

How that's for having too much money to throw around!

I just bought the Crispin Glover version of Crime And Punishment and was wild with rage that it won't play in my player for some dang reason.

I also got hold of The Conqueror.  You haven't known tru pain until you've seen it.  Might make a great double feature with Roller Blade.

I picked up a couple DVD's from Andrew.  Crash and Burn is an old favorite, and it lived up to my memories of it pretty well.  Shadowzone I'd never seen before, I don't know, it failed to capture my interest very much.  Sort of Alien meets The Thing, with a budget that wouldn't cover the catering on either of those movies.  Didn't really care too much about the characters - the main guy was generic and bereft of personality, then there was some old bag, a crazy woman and crazy guy, and the mad scientist.  Scientist dude was okay but got killed off early.  There was one hot female scientist, but she too met with an early demise.  Of course there was the naked babe who just laid there in her sleep capsule for most of the movie.  The special effects were pretty silly, but there was one great scene with a monkey.

"I finally found the monkey"
"You did?  But the monkey is over here."
"It's over there?  Well then what is this...AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!"

I thought that "Shadowzone" was much better than it had any right to be.  The fact that they constantly hid the monster from you was a high point.  All too often, movies put the monster in plain sight, when they should have managed its appearances.

Kiss Me Quick it's a riot and a slight spoof of Dr Strangelove. One of my favorite nudie cuties. :thumbup:

QuoteBowanga Bowanga/Wild Women of Wongo/Virgin Sacrifice

Another good one of vintage exploitations on a very mild scale.

QuoteThe Road to Ruin/No Greater Sin

Another vintage scare film of the ill of misguided youth. (On a social note: the more things change the more they remain the same.)

You've got some more winners there too, a good haul! :thumbup:

I've got a bunch of them, there a riot. You should see some of the WWII military scare films, I swear I think I saw the same ones when I was in.

Their DVD-R's are 10 for $80 shipped.

Joe the Destroyer

Picked up the first Austin Powers.  It was cheap.

I'll probably try out a few of the Something Weird titles.  My only concern is the quality, though the source material is likely to be the worst offender there.

Had some more arrive today that I don't think I mentioned:

The Mack
Superfly
Frankenstein Conquers the World
Elvira Double Feature (Werewolf of Washington and The Doomsday Machine)
Cult Classics 20 Movie Pack (I'm really interested to see the quality of these, compared to some of the other versions I have of a number of the movies)

Some of SWV stuff is in pretty rough shape, now the Image Releases aren't to bad, often the best print available but not always. Some the DVD-R stuff they release is scratchy, dusty etc, but it might be the only know print too. So it's the best you can get even if it's rough. Being that most of there stuff is grindhouse and low budget fare, not a likely candidate for expensive restoration.
I enjoy them, I'd say the quality over all is far better than the stuff you get in the 50 movie mega packs, but by no means perfect.

Speaking of recent movie purchases, I picked up at lunch a few ...

Pan's Labyrinth
Apocalypto
Volver
Hard Luck
Deathwatch
Deadbirds
Bubba Ho-tTep

and I got some of the those double sided industrial wire video racks on casters in the video store, if anyone needs one let me know, I have access to a few of them. Looks like they'll hold 600 or so DVD's bookended.

Walmart had a big selection of 2 for 10 DVD's today, but instead I opted for Walmarts $1 section. Here's what I picked up for $1 each.

The Thrill Seekers (a.k.a. The Time Shifters)
Hell In Normandy
The Red Skeleton Show: 6 Classic Episodes

Pilgermann

Escape from L.A. -- Wal-Mart had it for five bucks.  I haven't seen it and I don't expect it to be as good as Escape from New York, but I'll probably like it.
The Invisible Man (1933) -- I wanted to pick this up after reading through the thread about it.  I found a used copy of the first DVD release for about five bucks.

Shadow

Today I got more goodness from Full Moon: the Subspecies Epic Collection box set.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

I'm probably going to pick that up at some point.  I currently own LDs of most of the films.  Been trying to move away from LD to DVD, due to weight and storage.
