I was tempted to put this in the good movies forum just for the fun of it. :teddyr:

Anybody like me been hoping that the Doctor Butcher M.D. cut of Zombie Holocaust would be available on DVD?

Check this out:

You might have to look around for it on Google as it is only being sold by merchants on Amazon.

Some others have it listed but don't have any in stock.

*I have just ordered a copy myself, so I can't comment on the quality of the DVD, yet.

Far=out! I love this movie. I had an old Paragon video of it once...but alas.... :bluesad:. Never seen DR.TARR....looks interesting.

I have the ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST DVD.  Haven't seen the Dr. Butcher cut since it was on VHS back in the 1980s.

I still have my 80s Paragon VHS release of Doctor Butcher M.D., and the Lightning Video one as well. I have been hoping for the Doctor Butcher M.D. cut to be put on DVD. I have Zombie Holocaust on DVD, but the Doctor Butcher M.D. cut moves along a little better at the beginning, has that oh so cheesy intro, and adds a few sound effects (like the girly screaming zombie) to the mix; which just makes it a little more fun to me.

Insofar as I know, the only reason Dr. Butcher hasn't had a legit Region 1 DVD release is because of Lightning Video.  Like so many other great opportunist 80s schlock video distributors, LV dissolved under less than desirable financial circumstances, tangling the rights to their titles in untold mounds of paperwork, auction blocks, etc.  I can only imagine the look of dismay on a stuffy bank manager's face as he tooled through "assets" like She, Dr. Butcher, and Street Trash.  Haha.

But yeah, Menard, let us know how the quality is!  I haven't seen this in years.

Perhaps, but the Paragon release came after the Lightning Video release. I think that both of them had the Aquarius Releasing copyright notice at the beginning. Perhaps it could have had something to do with Aquarius Releasing.

The Lightning Video tape, as usual, is a little better quality than the Paragon tape. Though both distributors had titles that have taken a while to get to DVD, or have not made it to DVD yet. I still have my Paragon copy of a Hayley Mills movie called Deadly Strangers which has not made it to DVD yet, and it is far from one of her kid oriented movies.

I wonder if NIGHT of BLOODY HORROR with Gerald(MAJOR DAD) McRaney has made it to dvd? I have that one on an old Paragon tape too,as well as the GLORY STOMPERS ,both of which I have on Paragon tapes.

EDIT: I messed up! I'm thinking of REBEL ROUSERS,not GLORY STOMPERS! Sorry. My mind is turning into a swamp of Bad Movie trivia...which I have trouble dredging stuff out of sometimes....

You can also find it on some of the BCI Eclipse multi-packs

Don't know about Glory Stompers though.

I always got a kick out the scenes added to the American version (from some other entirely different film) that shows a gravestone with the name "Snuff Maximus" on it.   :teddyr:

I've used that as my nickname ever since I've seen that.

The DVD of Zombie Holocaust has a short on the source of that footage, as well some other footage from the film from which it came, or at least what survives of it.

That intro is great. The corny title/shingle for Doctor Butcher M.D. and the added footage give it a unique cheesiness. :teddyr:

I've been meaning to pick up Zombie Holocaust for quite some time. I think that Best Buy is selling it for only 9.99 now.

I always liked the part where the guy falls out the hospital window and they just throw a mannequin out dressed in hospital patient garb. The arm comes loose when it his the pavement.   :teddyr:

The first time that I had watched the movie, I don't belive I caught that; even though it is painfully obvious. When I did catch it, I had to hit rewind and watch it over and over again; laughing every time.

Another addition to the Doctor Butcher cut is in a scene where Ian McCulloch throws a lantern at one of Doctor Butcher's zombie henchemen and sets him on fire. In the Zombie Holocaust version, the zombie just tries to swat out the flames and eventually falls down after being overcome by the flames. In the Doctor Butcher cut, they add some sound so it sounds like the zombie has a girly scream when he is set on fire. :teddyr:

In that same scene, I like the zombie who can't figure out he's a zombie. The one that was not set on fire continues to walk slowly toward the direction in which they were headed, even though Ian McCulloch is across the room now, trying to open the door. Doctor Butcher hollers for the zombie to get him and the zombie suddenly becomes an acrobat as he springs to life, leaps over something, and goes hand-to-hand with Ian McCulloch.

This movie is a hoot!  I'm going to pick up the Zombie Holocaust DVD this weekend.   :teddyr:

Shriek Show released the region 1 version twice - once in 2001 as a stand alone disk and last year as part of the Zombie Pack Vol 2 along with Burial Ground and Flesheater.

We are referring to the Doctor Butcher M.D. cut, which I have not seen on DVD before this double feature release. We all know that the Zombie Holocaust cut has been on DVD for a while.
