HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (2007) - Saw this latest Harry Potter film today. About 15 in attendance for the 12:40 pm showing. It was ok, you really get to dislike the new head of Hogwarts. Harry progresses to teacher of magic spells. There is a scene where Harry kisses the Asian female then they reveal her to be a snitch only to later find out they used a truth serum to make her talk and then they never show her again the rest of the film. I kept thinking she would come and help Harry Potter in the end, but nothing happened. Was very dissapointed in how they used the Asian girl. Just didn't make sense.

  (7 out of 10 Stars) Didn't do anything for me. Reminds me of PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN franchise.

Well, Scott, I think I just learned something about your view, and posts that may or may not contain spoilers.   :teddyr:  Your commentary regarding the Asian character sounds like something I might notice and not forgive, and though I probably will still see this HARRY, I was not thrilled with the last one...or two...  but I confuse them.  Karma for telling it like it is.

I really didn't give away any of the ending. Just made a few points about the film.

Well, Cho didn't participate in the big battle in the book, so that's probably why she didn't in the movie. To be honest, she didn't really have a huge part in the book either. By the end of it, she and Harry were no longer "an item."

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Not a bad film, but not as good as some of the others.  I still enjoyed it more than Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which was my least favorite of the movies (and yet my favorite of the books).  I hate to say it, but this one just didn't have the right flow to it.  Or at least it felt like it didn't.  Still worth watching, and I'm still looking forward to Half-Blood Prince next year.

I caught this at an Imax Saturday night and I thought they did a good job with it.  I thought the book itself was rather boring but they made it somewhat a lot more interesting in the movie.  The last 20 minutes were in 3d.

The loss of Richard Harris as Dumbledore (the head of the school) was a sore loss, indeed.  The new actor just doesn't have the punch for the role.  It'll be especially a painful loss in movies #6 and #7...

I liked it very much. Not as much as the blindingly amazing Goblet of Fire, but it was definitely one of the better Harry Potters.

That would be Michael Gambon, who, I actually like as an actor, better than Richard Harris. But, he just might be miscast in the role of Dumbledore.

Speaking of such...

Although I'm not sure where he gets the "total sluts" idea, everyone knows it's SLYTERIAN chicks that fit THAT mode.

I read the first 2 books and enjoyed them.  Saw the first 3 movies and enjoyed them as well.  Because I read so much, by the time I see a film adaptation of a book, I generally forget how the book went!

Don't know if I'll buy the Harry movies.  And with the books, I'll eventually read them all, but probably only once through.  My 16 yo son when through a Harry Potter phase, but grew out of it about a year ago.

I'll wait until they make all the movies, then bring them out in a collector's edition pack with all the extras in it.
