Question Concerning a Web Site or Two

Are any of you familiar with tvboxset.com or dvdcollections.tv? I came across these sites linked to the Warner Bros. site as sponsored links. They both offer some tv show complete box sets of shows that, as far as I know, have not been officially released. My suspicions are raised further by the claim that all dvds are region-free, which I know doesn't occur if the disks are coming from real distributors. I was looking for info on when a Freakazoid box set might be released, and both of these sites claim to have such a set, but neither Amazon nor DeepDiscount have it (sites I know are legit). Are these dvd-roms? Bootlegs? Does anyone here know?

I'm not sure if those sites are valid sites.  You may want to look them up on ripoffreport.com and see if any info is available.

As for Freakazoid, I seem to remember a set being released about two years ago or so.  My memory may be playing tricks on me but I do seem to recall it.

Thanks, Skaboi.

I looked the sites up on ripoffreport. tvboxset appears to be quite horrible. dvdcollections doesn't appear there, but the more I looked at the sites, the more convinced I was that they were run by the same people (the descriptions of the dvds were the same, including a typo or two).

I looked up Freakazoid on imdb.com, and the user comments there said WB was thinking of releasing a boxed set as of last year, but I can't find any evidence that they did. That's what led me to the WB website and the sponsored links in the first place.

Anyway, thanks for telling me about ripoffreport; I knew about a couple of similar websites, but not that one. I'll add it to my checklist.

dvdcollections was there in this post ...

Looks like there one in the same, I'd do a whois search and see if they are registered to the same place.

I made a purchase of $345 at TVBoxSet.com several weeks ago, I never heard back from them or got my order. I used a ShopSafe card, which is a credit card you generate for shopping online, the only place I ever put this number out was at TVBoxSet.com. I was charged the $345 for my order and over the next 6 days, I was charged 14 times for a total of $3702.94 USD.

After contacting my credit card company I did some research on this company. They open a site, get a lot of people to buy stuff and stall. Finally people realize what is happening and start to complain and they lose their ability to accept credit cards and start to get investigated so they start a new website up and repeat. They are harvesting credit card numbers and keeping whatever money made from orders they will never fill.

Look at their product selection, categories, DVD artwork, FAQ. anything. All these sites are the same. DVDCollections.tv is just the latest, it was recently registered because TVBoxSet.com was getting too many complaints. Check them out. DVDCollections.tv, TVBoxSet.com, TVAddicts.tv, RareDVDs.tv, DVDAvenue.tv. they are all the same.

There was a website that I checked out last year and it had similar items.  It might have been the same sight.  I eventually realized that the site had stuff that was probably HK (Hong Kong) ripoffs.  They had all of The Simpsons seasons on DVD and I looked at the ones that were from the same seasons that were currently released they box art was completely different and had chinese characters in it.

Wow, that one post you found elsewhere is a bit of an eye-opener.  I actually have heard from these people before (under at least the tvAddicts.tv domain), asking for a link trade.  After checking their site, I politely declined.

tvboxset.com is a rip off!
Don't bother.  I ordered from them for my daughters Birthday, and it was ruined as a result.
What was supposed to be the perfect gift ended up being an empty gift bag!
Anyone know any reputible sites?  Very discouraged at this point

Ah .. Amazon, Deep Discount DVD, DVD Empire, DVD Planet, Movie Unlimited and tons more ... it's simple if it sounds to good to be true it likely is.

If they are not on this list and have a good rating, I don't do business with them unless I know them.

Hi,

I've recently purchased from dvdcollections.tv .
Although I did get my dvd collection I ordered (Complete G1 Transformers series), when I opened the box, this is what I found:

1) Colored photocopy of one of the transformer episodes (Written episode 1 in the back and length was 30 minutes, even though the collection includes 18 dvd's....doubt that there is only 30min of footage).

2) DVD's were completely white with standard MSWord letter print: Transformers dic 1, disc 2 and so on.

3) When you op it in, the FBI warning is accompanied by a doodle done on the face of the FBI guy in the lower corner...

Yup, these are bootlegs.  When I found out about the rip off and saw others had there credit cards loaded by these companies, I cancelled my card.  Luckly for me, there was no extra charges on mine yet, but didn't want to wait to find out.
