I just experienced the same thing for a few minutes, but it resolved itself.  Looking at the server side, I cannot see what might have caused it.  Without looking further, my best guess is that the network (either the data center or the peering network) was the cause and the latency has been resolved.

Yep.  About the same time that I posted the thread, it started working perfectly.
