Adam's Family Movies

I'm a big fan of the movies and tv show, and will watch whenever they're on.  Raul Julia I liked as Gomez.  Especially in the first one, like when he calls Sally Jesse Raphael looking for the cannibals.

The film has one of the best ensemble casts ever assembled.  They all fit the characters perfectly.  Not to mention the set and costume design is great.  BTW, one of the things I really liked is the tone of the films is much closer to the comics than the TV show was.  Both films I find quite enjoyable, though I will say I like the first one a bit better.

I really love Charles Addams comics. Id like to get the book that collects them all. One that particularly sticks out in my mind is the one with the kids room with all the warning signs on the wall.

Does anyone else besides me like these films?  I always loved the overly dark humor in them.  I was watching the second one on television tonight and the parts where Wednesday goes to camp is absolutely hilarious to me. 

I liked them, the crazy dark humor and all.  I especially liked the second one (well the first three fourths of it anyway, started to run out of gas by the end), course part of me liking them might of been cause I had an obsessive crush over Christina Ricci at the time...

And yes, I did go to the imdb, but a lot of these I was able to type from memory... :)

BTW, in this case, "Addams" has to two ds.

I loved the wild openly weird nature of the Addams family. I like the Munsters too, but the Addams style suited me better, i guess.
White collor Vs. Blue collor,so to speak.
I liked the different quieter style of the films. Raul and Angelica and Christine really nailed it.

I love watching the reruns on TV Land at like, 1 in the afternoon. 

John Astin was hilarious as Gomez. 

The movies work on a totally different level though.

I loved these movies too.

I was surprised to find out that the girl scout selling cookies from the first movie is the same actress who did the character of Harmony in the Buffy The Vampire Slayer series (Mercedes McNab).

Christine Ricci was an underrated child actor I think.  She is deliciously creepy in these movies

They're both a lot of fun, especially the first, but what I never see mentioned is how wonderfully weird and creepy the atmosphere is for a comedy. There's a lot of attention to detail - the huge catacombs under the house, the little man in the model train, the seemingly endless hidden treasure room, and so on. Barry Sonnenfeld's films tend to be like this, even his godawful ones like RV.

   I think its wonderful how most of you just automatically made the comparison from the Addams Family to the Munsters. I think someone is either a Munsters or a Addams Family person.

    I choose the Munsters over the Addams Family TV series any day, but when it comes the the Addams Family movies, they jump right over the Munsters.

I think that your favorite pick out of two choices tells you quite a lot about your personality, too. This is actually discussed by Jesse Custer and Cassidy in the Preacher comics, the example coupled pair of choices being Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy vs. Charlie Chaplin (both agreed on Stan & Oliver, representing the "buddies type", I would have picked Chaplin, obviously representing the "loner type"). Since then I've been thinking of other promising choices, e.g.:

Mickey Mouse vs. Donald Duck (definitely Donald for me)
King Kong vs. Godzilla (KONG!)
Arnold Schwarzenegger vs. Sylvester Stallone (the Terminator...)
Star Wars vs. Star Trek (probably a weak one, but Star Wars for me)

Of course one could go over the top with it - tea or coffee, wine or beer,....

I have no idea what all this says about my character, though.

I liked the Munsters more.
