No Nukes, the Satanic Pikachu

I graduated from high school last week! *crickets chirp*

Since my neighborhood is pretty much a maze of mountains and it's been raining like hell, I haven't been going out much. I've been watchin a few DVDs (which I will review as soon as I can get some more server space!) and I've been having some more funny ideas.....

Ideas like, since they already made comic books based off of the major slasher films (Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare On Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc.) why not hire a bunch of Japanese people and make big friggin mangas based off of each movie?

Sounds like a really great idea you've got there, since we could surely use something that's very original and inventive in today's overly cliche-ridden genre celluloid scene.
And,,congradulations on your high school graduation.

I agree, I'm feeling the slasher mange thing.  Now that I'm picturing it, I'd would love to see the Japanese rendition of Freddy Kruger.  I just hope (with the exception of Jason and Micheal Mayers) they don't scream out their move before they use it to kill their victims (God, that annoys me).

A bit of advice, Pikachu: don't moon your professors, and don't come to class drunk especially during test.  It may be cool with the in-crowd, but academicly, it's a no-no.  Congrats, you pokemon you.

Mofo Rising

Right this very second there is a new manga-style comic based off of RESIDENT EVIL: CODE VERONICA.  It's trade paperback long, and it's only half the story.  Of course, that's only tangentially related to the topic.

Interesting idea though.  Especially considering that American comic adaptions of movies are usually so poor, while Japanese adaptions are usually somewhat good.  Of course, a Japanese adaption of an American movie may end up very bizarre, what with the crossed cultural wires and all.  There obsession with sex, violence and bodily perversity is much more extreme than America's.  Cronenberg would actually be the norm.  Carpenter's THE THING "re-imagined" would be shocking.

Anyway, does anybody remembert the STAR WARS manga that came out several years ago?  That would seem to be what you're talking about, except it's sci-fi, not horror.  If that sold well your idea may have a fighting chance.  Dark Horse might jump all over that one.
