It's still on TV, but back in the days, I used to watch Showtime at the Apollo.  One of their segments was Amature Night where, be it singing, dance, comedy, etc., if a wanna be was good, the audience would let them know (and they wll, trust me).  This song, whenever a singer (female) would sing it, seem to get tired and tired every time I hear it.  This song also happens to be in the theatrical play and movie, Dreamgirls.  That song is You're Gonna Love Me (Sorry, Jennifer.  It's not you, it's the song.)
We all know Bill is a little nuts, but George has actually tasted them.

NO MORE PINK FLOYD!

Sadly, I have to agree.  Before you flame me though, hear me out.
In 198whatever, I was living in the Houston area.  This is when Floyd came out with Momentary Lapse of Reason.
KLOL the cool station after 97 rock changed format played EVERY friggin Floyd song for like a week straight.
I got so bloody burned out that even today, I have to change the station when Pink Floyd comes on the radio.  It's kind of like a conditioned response.

To this list, I have to add most Led Zepplin, a lot of Hendrix and Boston's entire catalog.

I'm sorry guys, but can we say "Played the f*** out"?

Mr. DS

Although this one isn't a classic song per se, I would like to banish radio stations who play Nickleback's "Rock Star".

How about the Rolling Stones. Sheesh. If I have to hear "Beast of Burden" one more time.....

And I know this is mainly a Rock thread, but...

Anything by Hank Williams Jr. I live in a rural southern area, and if I hear one more kid with his jacked-up pickup, cell phone attached to his ear, and Ambercrombie clothes on blast out "Countryboy Can Survive" like its his own personal song I may have to take a trip to the nice little place with the white padded walls and the jackets where you can hug yourself all day. I would just love to see these little wannabes try to do half the crap he talks about in that song. Take the cell phones away and they wouldn't know what to do, much less survive in the country.

It was Heatwave that did Always and Forever and I like that song.

For 13 weeks, in the spring and summer of 1989 I heard that song all day, every day.
It was one of the two hot songs that year and everyone was singing it through my entire basic training cycle.
Patience, by Guns N Roses was the other and I hate that one almost as bad.

I like a lot of the songs that have been listed here, but I've had it up to my eyeballs with them.
Thus, my sentiment to retire them.

Anything by  Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.

If I never hear ...

Turn the Page
Katmandu
Beautiful Loser
Nutbush City Limits
Night Moves
Mainstreet

and about a 100 more it'll be to soon.

Karma for you...especially Turn The Page.  I hate songs where rock singers whine about how life sucks on the road.  Although I'm not sure if I'm ready to add Bon Jovi's Dead Or Alive to this list yet.  I still like that song a bit.

On a side note, the following songs just came to mind;
Quiet Riot - Cum On Feel The Noize
Poison - Nothin' But  A Good Time and many others
VM - Brown Eyed Girl

From one military grunt to another, I can sympathize with you.  All I heard in basic training is country music (I was in Ft. McClellan, Alabama).  And I love hip-hop, but this one dude was blasting Master P a LOT. That and Tupac (it was in '96)

I'd like to add anything by the Doors to this list.  Both the original version and the Ian Astbury version

I'm with you for about 95% of the catalog.  There are a few songs I like but stuff like Light My Fire, Touch Me (was this song ever good), etc can go.  I'm a big fan of The Cult so I never liked Ian with The Doors.

Another classic band I'm not sure that has been brought up yet, The Who.  Theres a few things of theirs I'd like to see banished.  Probably the whole soundtrack to Tommy.

I'll grant you The Who.  For the most part.
Can I add anything by post "Justice" Metallica?

I have no objections.  However I recommend we start with the worst of the worst, the song "I Disappear" which ironically has a wishful meaning to me since I'd love to see the song disappear forever.  Then perhaps we can elminate the video images of MTV's Metallica Icon from our heads too.  Avril Lavigne, Limp Bizkit, wtf???
