CAGED (1950) starring Eleanor Parker and Agnes Moorehead.

"PRISONER CELL BLOCK H" was a great Australian TV series about a women's prison.

The Burgomaster

I agree with Allhallowsday that CAGED! is excellent.  I recently bought the DVD and watched it a few days ago.  The dialogue, acting, direction, and camera work are all top-notch.  A black & white classic.

However, my all-time favorite is I WANT TO LIVE! starring Susan Hayward.  It's based on a true murder case and has an excruciatingly suspenseful sequence with Hayward in her holding cell waiting to go to the gas chamber and hoping that the governor will call and commute her sentence.  A "must see" movie.

YES!  Forgot about that one!  I WANT TO LIVE is a wonderful movie, with Susan Hayward's best performance!

I haven't seen to many WIP's, but of the few I have seen, I thought the best of them was CHAINED HEAT (1983)-with Linda Blair! And whatta back up cast: Sybil Danning, John Vernon and Tamera (Cleopatra Jones) Dobson!!! YEAH!!!

Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)

Reminded me of the made-for-TV BORN INNOCENT (1974) which also starred Linda Blair and a certain household cleaning utensil...

Personally, I'm partial to SWEET SUGAR.   MMmmmmm...Phyllis Davis  :tongueout:

Ok, techinically it's a women-on-plantation film, but still!
That's my driver's license picture....I hate that picture!"

I agree with both of allhallowsday's statements.

I would add that "Caged" also stars Ellen Corby, Jan Sterling, Lee Patrick, Jane Darwell, Sheila MacRae, Queenie Smith, and Hope Emerson. Damn! But Hope Emerson scares the **** out of me in that film.

Ive only seen 2 and enjoyed them to some extent
Tortured Angels and  Womans Camp 119
I was suprised to see Bruno Mattei in the credits for Womens Camp 119. I had only seen Rats and Hell of the Living Dead before this. I'm not really a big fan of Women in Prison films no matter how enjoyable they are.
