Evil Christmas elves (from outer space) attempt to take over the world.  The only hero powerful enough to stop them is Prince of Space!

I caught the tail end of this film one morning on Sci-Fi back around the time it first started.  I'm surprised you didn't include a sample of the closing theme music; it's quite reminiscent of Gamera. :teddyr:

QuoteThe Krankorians - They rely on their laser guns, as, physically, ten of them are no match for a Japanese man of normal size. I know that they evolved on a planet with low gravity, but these guys need to hit the weights. I cannot imagine what would happen if an insane sumo wrestler, clad in aluminum foil, got loose on Krankor. He would probably toss all of them, one at a time, into space as the death rays were harmlessly reflected back at the shooter.
Andrew, that has to be the funniest thing you ever wrote.

This is a favorite on MST3K. An alternate drinking game would be to have a shot whenever "Prince" says "Your weapons are useless against me!" or something like it. You'll get blasted just as fast. :drink:

This is one of my family's favorites too.  We love MST3K.  We watched Prince of Space and Invasion of the Neptune Men so many times, I can't watch either of them ever again.  Or at least for another 10-20 years.

The funny this is, I still get them both confused.  Invasion of the Neptune Men has such a similar plot, it's totally ridiculous.

Kooshmeister

Yeah, but Invasion of the Neptune Men has twice the annoying kids, a less effective hero, and boring villains. At least there's only three kids in this film, the hero is a fairly likable schmoe who actually gets stuff done, and the Phantom is a really fun bad guy. HAIL KRANKOR!

Torgo

This is one of my all time favorite MST3K episodes. Don't know if I could watch it without the MST3k treatment however.

Hail Krankor indeed! Remember how NEPTUNE MEN got Mike and the Bots all distressed...and then Krankor came, and he made it alllll better. Then they could endure the bad movie till the end.

Personally, I just call him the Phantom, since Krankor is the name of the planet, not the character. Nevertheless, Mike and the Bots insist on calling him Krankor, for whatever reason, with the end result that most everyone else does, too. Oh well. Still two classic MST episodes.

I have never seen this MST3K episode, though I have seen about 10 minutes of the MST3K'd "Invasion of the Neptune Men."  Without the help of the MST3K crew, I can tell you that this is a much more entertaining film.  Phantom of Krankor constantly says and does things that crack me up.  The one exchange between him and Price of Space was priceless:

Phantom of Krankor: "But who are you? Tell me, who are you? What's your name?"
Prince of Space: "I am Prince of Space!"
Phantom of Krankor: "Uh, wait a moment..."

Phantom's acting and character save the film from being really bad.  I waffled back and forth between a two slime and three slime rating for this movie.

I just remembered; once when they show the giant on "Krankor's" view screen, you can see the WOODEN PLATFORM the set is built on! :bouncegiggle:

Xenorama

i quite enjoy this movie, and NEPTUNE men, all without the help of stupid talking (and vastly unfunny) vacuum cleaners.

the DVD set is quite nice as well.
