In a previous discussion I brought up a movie as a recommendation and it seemed to hit a nerve with some people. Which is fine! Thats what I love about movies! Getting other people's insight and seeing why they like or loathe a movie! I recently watched this movie and (finished it after trying multiple times) wanted to see what other people thought of this movie. All posts welcome! Love? Hate? ALL!

While the animal cruelty present on screen is abominable (even Deodato seems to regret it these days), the film poses a number of interesting questions and explores the idea of man lowered to the level of brute animal (the film crew in this case, not he cannibals) quite well.

This is light years ahead of anyone elses work in the genre at any rate and less a horror film than a morality tale - I like it about as much as anyone could, I imagine, and picked up my copy of the Grindhouse 2 disc DVD the day it was released.

Kindest regards,

I have -- or had, rather -- the DVD version that allows you to watch it without the animal killings.

Viewed that way ... eh, it was a cannibal movie.   It was Citizen Kane compared to most other cannibal movies but it was still just a cannibal movie.  I didn't get what all the fuss was about.

I have no intention of going back to watch it with the animal killings intact.
Kneel before Dr. Hell, the ruler of this world!

I love this film. It portrays what it condemns. I love the music and the general brutal feeling of the film. A look into the future of reality TV gone too far.
PS> The new Grindhouse Realeasing of the film has a feature where one can view the film sans animal killings. Doesn't make much sense to me because the purpose of the movie is to exploit and overload your senses.

This was one of those movies that I had read about for a long time before seeing. As a result, it didn't live up to the hype I had built up in my mind. As an animal lover, it is hard for me to watch any animal killed, but especially when it is just for exploitation purposes. Still, I own the DVD, so I suppose I can deal with such things on occasion.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.
