Dr. Whom

I watched the Star Trek, are you sure this isn't a spoof? The guy in the hat might well be a popular Turkish comedian.
"Once you get past a certain threshold, everyone's problems are the same: fortifying your island and hiding the heat signature from your fusion reactor."

Wenn ist das Nunstück git und Slotermeyer? Ja! ... Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput.

The guy in the hat is known as Omer the Tourist - the character appeared in a number of Turkish films from the 60's on (Omer The Tourist, Omer The Tourist in Germany, etc.).  These were definitely meant as comedies, Omer The Tourist in Star Trek included.

The Turkish Star Wars are cult these days. I think that every bad movie fan should see this at least once. It hasn't anything to do  with SW... At least for me, I hadn't subs but it was more funny ;) Anyway, it hasn't anything to do with SW, but it's hillarious show of prro effects and pathetic FX's. Besides, Turkish have a lot of 'good' remakes :D As far I've seen:
- Turkish Evil Dead
- Turkish Exorcist
- Turkish I Spit On Your Grave

Sounds attractive, he?

Captain Tars Tarkas

I hate the "Turkish Evil Dead" nickname for Death Warrior.  It is more of a Turkish version of those Godawful Godfrey Ho ninja movies, except the plot makes more sense.

I can't imagine what Turkish I Spit On Your Grave must be like but it couldn't possibly be even remotely as rough as American I Spit On Your Grave.

I've seen Turkish Exorcist and as far as these knock-offs go, it's pretty tame.  It's nearly a shot for shot remake with most of the Catholic angle removed since there is very little crossover between what scares Catholics and what scares Muslims.  It's not without its absurd moments but it's not even half as crazy as Turkish Star Wars.

I have Turkish Last House On The Left sitting at home, waiting for me to watch it.  I think the westernized title is actually Last House In Istanbul.  Supposedly it's a similarly nasty torture/revenge movie but I'll be the judge of that.

Also, on the flipside, Son Osmanli (aka The Last Ottoman) is completely awesome!  It was made somewhere in the last few years and has good acting, story and production values.  It's a lot of fun.
