This is kind of an action movie for the ladies!  The first 15 minutes or so is classic, great cop movie magic, like Bronson or Dirty Harry.  The rest of the movie is well written, well acted, original,  stylish, but not exactly my cup of tea.  I kept looking over at my other rental Roberta Findlay's ultra violent "tenement" longingly.

Burt Reynolds is cast as a sort of an american  James Bond.   He falls in love with a woman he has bugged and wiretapped and sits in a little room with binoculars watching and somehow it isn't creepy.  The woman, a prostitute by trade, is not only afforded respect, she is treated like Princess diana.  Lifetime could run this with a little editing.

Well done, though a little long at 2 hours.  look for a kind of racist cameo by Bruce Lee student Dan insonato

"Sharky's Machine...."

And by the way, Tenenment is so incredibly sleazy.  I thought I was the only one on earth who would actually watch it willingly.

I had this movie on VHS.  It's always been a guilty pleasure of mine.  A lot of people that I know have never heard of it which is quite the shame, as it's a really fun B movie.

Interesting story about this:

After Clint Eastwood made EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE, which was similar to some of Burt's "good ole boy" action comedies like W.W. AND THE DIXIE DANCEKINGS and SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT, Burt said that if Clint kept making movies like that, Burt would make DIRTY HARRY GOES TO ATLANTA.  After SHARKY'S MACHINE was released, Clint sent Burt a message that said, "You weren't kidding."
