That's a shame.  He was a hero to many, and an all around amazing guy.

RIP Evel.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

A man who was larger than life.  I watched the Biography/Drama movie with George Eads as Evel about 3 months ago and you have to stand in awe of his guts.  He broke more than 40 bones during his life and still he kept at it.

I had an Evel Knievel toy motorcycle as a kid.  I think I crashed it more than he did.  Amazing that he lived so long, what with all the risks he took.  Must have had a lot of meticulous planning going into his jumps.

RIP, there will never be another one like you, Evel.

Damn he was only 69 ... man I use to love to watch his specials as a kid back in the 60's and 70's. They'd be on in the evening and he'd just something like 30 buses and crash breaking a ton of bones, I guess one of his last great jumps was Snake River canyon.

Allhallowsday

I always admired him.  Though he was hammered by personal problems, the guy had guts.  Evel Knievel will not soon be forgotten.

It's sad that he's gone, he was truly amazing for what he did.  He will be missed.

I gotta be a bit of a contrarian here.  The man hammered his body into slush for stunts.  Yes, he was charismatic about it, but I can't really find it in my soul to admire him for it.  With all of the self-inflicted damage, and all the pain he was in for years before he died, I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did.

Nevertheless, I'm glad he's out of pain now.

nshumate-  where is your sense of life and adventure?  He was awesome!!!

Viva Knieval is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I don't know if it says anything about my spirit of life and adventure that I don't like seeing someone else beat himself to a pulp and live on painkillers for twenty years.  Call my a party-pooper...

In an interesting aside, I just found out he bought motorcycles from my wife's grandfather in the 70's.   He's an old acquaintence of her family.  Who knew?
