Movies they should just give the heck up on!

Any movies they should just stop trying to "do correctly" ?

I vote for the Punisher. The first was bad enough-and while I never saw the second....well I gotta say.........the fact that they have already decided to do a new Punisher movie--not a sequel--but a new revamp----just about makes me wanna slap someone. This makes 3 Punisher movies that all stand by themselves so to speak.

enough is enough.

What?

The first Punisher was, indeed, a total piece of crap but I actually enjoyed the 2004 version, particularly the open advocacy of vigilantism at the end and the fate of Travolta's bad guy. It was so heavy handed and a lot closer to the Garth Ennis Punisher of recent issues. Last I knew, though, the next Punisher movie (War Zone) is a sequel and not any kind of remake. It's based on the Welcome Back, Frank series that the last movie pulled a lot of elements from. Plus, it has Microchip and Jigsaw.

The Punisher was never a really good comic anyway. I'll admit that the first mini-series (now known as Circle of Blood) is what got me started buying comics but in retrospect, the character has always been a pretty shallow one and until the Palmiotti/Ennis books, there was a really only a brief blip in the late 80's/early 90's when War Journal was a genuinely good book. The last three that Jim Lee did before taking off for Uncanny X-Men, The Hawiian Trilogy, was freakin' awesome but it totally jumped the shark after that and was a slow dive into mediocrity when it jumped the shark again and had Castle getting plastic surgery to look like a black man.

Seriously. That comic, got really bad. There's nothing some crappy movies can possibly make any worse.

I was reading the newest Wizard magazine(a movie special) where they had an interview with the folks working on the newest movie---and they said themselves that it's a revamp and most of what you said "about jigsaw etc." was mentioned as well----however, with this revamp they are gonna have it take place AFTER his origin!

Man, at least give him his origin--origins are possibly the best parts of superhero movies(except of course, Ang Lee's boring Hulk movie)

Speaking of The Hulk, I heard that they're going to try again in making a film version. This time, Edward Norton is playing Bruce Banner, and he's going to be pursued in this version by The Abomination, played by Tim Roth.

It's a little too early to tell how this version's going to fare, but I'm positive that they're going to go for a different kind of film. A lot of people, back in 03, were bashing this film because the CGI Hulk looked "fake"...as time has passed, however, I think we can all see that the CGI hulk was the least of this film's problems...the fact that it was a plodding, boring film that took itself way too seriously was a much bigger problem. I mean, the fact that Hulk never fought a supervillan, and instead had a cliched confrontation with his father at the end, was just lame.

Now that I think about it...has the Hulk ever had a successful run outside of the comic books? With the exception of the late 70's TV series, it seems that every other cartoon, movie, or video game with this guy attached has been either mediocre, or a dismal failure. Will this new version coming out stem the tide? Hell if I know.

I think Tarantino should be bound and gagged whenever he expresses a desire to make a movie.

Although I liked his part in Little Nicky but that's because bad things happen to him

I didn't think the Hulk was so bad. Eric Bana did a pretty good job, but he seemed just a little TOO unemotional. I guess that was so you could appreciate his transformation.

I thought Ang Lee did a horrible job of directing. I hated the split screens all the time, it was annoying. He didn't really have a feel for the subject matter and it seemed like he said to himself, "I'm going to direct this all higgledy piggledy and I bet nobody even notices!!!!"

The worst thing about that Hulk movie was that it was a boring, depressing Lifetime Movie of the Week. I'm no expert, but I don't think that super hero movies should be tedious.

Agreed. I understand the need for a "origin" to be worked into the story--partly because everyone has their own idea on how it should happen---but also to explain things to folks who know nothing about that character. The origin is always very important---but Ang Lee just went tooooooooo far with his version and basically made the whole movie the origin--the origin went WAY too far and ended up making the movie a bore.

Add the "Sandlot" movies to that list! It went from a mostly realistic/slightly fantasy type of story and now they have stories where adult baseball players travel back in time and possess their bodies when they were kids.

Too far.

I think I saw the first one when I was a little kid, now years later as a college student I find out they just came out with a videogame and fourteen movies. talk about milking the dead cow for all shes worth.

I know what you mean. I though it was cool when I was a little kid, but now I like turn on the TV and find out that a new LBT is coming out like every week (I know I'm blowing it out of perportions, but it's my point), it's crazy, they should have laid it to rest.

Two movies they should have stopped while they were ahead where the American Ninja movies, the Bloodfist movies, and the early TMNT movies.

The Bloodfist movies, really only needed two movies, to be fine, three would have sufficed, but 7 films. Plus after 2, Don "The Dragon" Wilson plays a different character, so it's kinda pointless to me.

American Ninja should have stopped with American Ninja 2. The third film was good, I liked it, but the 4th one left a bad taste in my mouth. I refuse to watch the 5th film.

The first TMNT movie was awesome, the 2nd one was just too corny and I had trouble watching it. I don't think I could put myself through the 3rd movie. I'm not sure about the recent movie that was made for that series, I have not seen it yet, but since I'm not a huge TMNT fans, I probably won't see it.

you know when you get to the point in your life when you are about to become a parent, other parents tell you all kinds of things to expect such as sleeplessness, joys of motherhood, ect ect. they never mention having to watch the land before time till your teeth ache and you begin to question reality. It should be mandantory that these tapes self-destruct after so many viewings....
