This is the companion thread for "Too Good for This Move".

I'll get us started:

Keanu Reeves in Bram Stoker's Dracula.  An otherwise great film (IMO) but is dragged down a notch or two by Mr. Reeves.
He learned almost too late that man is a feeling creature... and because of it, the greatest in the universe........
-Dr. Paul Nelson (Peter Graves)

Thought of another one:  Shelley Duvall in The Shining.

Larry the Cable Guy in well, everything.

Yeah, but was he in a good movie and dragged it down.  Delta Farce?  (I'm so glad that that movie didn't make any money)

Jack Black would qualify (IMO) since there was a stretch where he was in semi-decent movies for some reason.  Like Dane Cook in Mr. Brooks (which I liked outside of Dane Cook).

I gotta say Keanu Reeves in anything. His turn  in Much Ado About Nothing was frankly, much ado about nothing.

Need I say Jar Jar in Phantom Menace?

I was gonna see Delta Farce cause Bill Engvall and DJ Qualls are in it, but I saw Larry in the commercial and immediately decided against.  Dude's not funny.

Keanu was good in Bill and Ted and a movie called Freaked.  Outside of them, no.  Speed maybe, but eh.  I liked Jar Jar though.

Well, playing a stoned surfer isn't much of a stretch for ol' Keanu.  Too bad Alex Winter's career went nowhere.

While I don't like Jar-Jar, I understand why he exists.  If you look at the old Republic serials which Star Wars is based off, they sometimes featured a goofy Komedy character.  I think that's what Lucas was going for an failed miserably.  Then again, I don't know what the hell he was going for with the prequels, what with the horrible dialog, wooden acting and an all out CGI assault on your eyeballs and sensibilities.

I agree with the Keanu Reeves in Dracula post (though if I was allowed to eliminate one thing from that movie, it'd be the tacked on love story, not Keanu).

What about Laurie's two friends in the original Halloween? I thought both of them were horrendous actress' and it really drags the movie down for me every time I watch it.

Personally, I went into Episode 1 as a non Star Wars fan, not having seen the original trilogy.  I was pretty much bored except for Jar Jar.  I saw that at the theater.  I saw Ep. 2 on HBO and can't say I liked that either, cept for the Yoda fight at the end.  Beyond that I can't say I'm a Star Wars fan.

I like Jar Jar! And I like Episode 1!

Personally I always found the little kid Skywalker more annoying than Jar Jar in that film. I don't see how Jar Jar is any more annoying than any of the crazy puppets in the older films, or how he outright ruined a good film for so many people. *shrug*

Most of the theatre were laughing and appreciating the gags when I saw it anyways.

I haven't seen much of Star Wars, any of the episodes, but I suppose it would be because Jar Jar had a more prevalent role than many of the earlier crazy puppets.

For the latest on the fifth installment in Don Coscarelli's Phantasm saga.

Any movie with Will Smith. Also, it goes down another two notches if the soundtrack includes something he has performed..

Dave M

Robin Williams in anything that's supposed to be funny. In scary stuff, he's like the new Vincent Price, I'd like to see him exclusively be a scary guy from now on. I his utter unfunnyness is somehow related to how good he is at being scary; like he gives the impression of someone with no soul or something.

I think Jar Jar was scapegoated a little unfairly. He somehow came to represent everything wrong with the Phantom Menace, when he should probably go pretty low on the list of stuff that's wrong with that movie. Also, there's that CGI backlash that's not even totally over yet (which is the only explanation I can think of for Sky Captain's bad reviews).

Yes!  Another Sky Captain  fan.  I enjoyed the hell out of this movie.  It was very Indiana Jones-esque but got hammered because it was all CGI.  It's too bad it didn't make any money because I'd love to see a sequel.

And you gotta love the last line of dialog in the movie.
