BAA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaaa!!

This was definitely the best review evar!!  I haven't laughed so hard in ages!!

I was married to a navy man for almost ten years, before he cheated on me and I dumped his sorry ass -- the "bobber identification tags" thing almost made me wet myself!!   :bouncegiggle:  "oh, it's the Navy -- a lot of people are going to be killed."

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!

So awesome!

Happenstance

The monsters are quite effective because they're (a) clearly physically present, unlike a stop-motion animated beastie or off-scale Bert I. Gordon terrarium refugee, and (b) still move fairly convincingly, unlike Them! and other technical marvels that look "neat" but hardly "real."

The publicity stills often featured one of the critters grasping a bathing-suit-clad girl in a very suggestive fashion not related to devouring prey. It made me feel funny down there! Hrrrr, hrrrr, hrrrr. But the shot where the screaming diver's head collapses? Oh, yeah, that's some goooood nightmare fuel right there.

I need a life

What this movie tells me is guys in the 50s had it made! In case you cannot tell from the pics, this woman is amazingly hot and will easily fall for a clueless schlub in a dry cleaned uniform. Even though he's on the pudgy side and 20 years her senior. Just ridiculously unfair.

Flangepart

Ya ever think Holt looks so scared dureing the final 'bug kill' scene, is because dureing rehursals, the big thing almost fell on him?

Director : Get closer, and look scared, Tim.
Holt : Ya know, it really looks kinda dumb, don't you th...
FX director : LOOK OUT! ( crash! )
Holt : HOLY S&%$! That thing almost killed my a$$!

Still, a fun flick all in all.
"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Setebos

I've often felt a nice little drinking game could be made around the number of times "Salton Sea" is mentioned in the course of the movie.
