How long does Amy Winehouse have?

Snivelly

She must have some friends who are looking after her or incredibly good luck, because I can't believe she's not dead in an alley somewhere.  I like her album, she's got an unusual voice and her own style, but the circus freak she's made of herself makes it hard to enjoy her music.

Yeah, we don't need another Janis Joplin.  I'm opposed to drug prohibition as I think the resulting crime is worse than what went on before, but part of me does want someone in this situation locked up in a hospital for a few months.

Killer Bees

Just my 2 cents worth:

Some entertainers have great talent, so when they get out of control on drugs and booze, the public tolerates it.or at least sympathises and somebody tries to help.   Amy Winehouse is not one of those people.

She has the most awful voice so her self destruction is grossly self indulgent and I can't imagine anyone feeling sorry for her or wanting to help her.  Her behaviour is the epitome of narcissism and I for one couldn't care less if she shuffled off this mortal coil, foaming at the mouth.  I've never liked her music or the image she portarys with that ridiculous beehive hairdo and badly applied makeup.

I give her 12 months, tops, as well.

Here's the latest news on that Miss Thang.  Not everybody likes her, particularly her "froggy" or "mumbling" singing style, but I don't know... I am a huge fan of NEIL YOUNG who "can't sing a note" for real, though he sure can write wonderful songs... WINEHOUSE might claim the same.

I wish her well and hope she can get her "act" together:

Winehouse Says Yes to Rehab OH please she's going to get clean by Feb 10th! BAHHAHAHAHAHAHA! In time for the Grammy's ... for pete sake if she was to stop all drug use right now, right this very day, she'd still be testing hot on Feb 10th and they think she'll be clean and sober and stay that way ... really who's on drugs here?

Killer Bees

Good point Cheezeflix.

I've never been into rehab myself because I've never been addicted to anything (well, maybe buying yarn and knitting needles, but that's still socially acceptable  :teddyr:), so I don't know much about it.

But logic would suggest that anyone THAT addicted would take longer than 2 weeks to get straight.  I'm surprised that she hasn't gotten into that controversial treatment where you go into hospital and they place all your drug addled blood with new stuff and and presto/change-o you're clean and cured.

The mindset that you'd go into rehab with a goal date in mind reflects no commitment to rehab.

She will fail, until she learns to put all of the crap (ie, her career) in second place, after her life and her health.

She is wasting her time, and she's being pretentious.

Amy Winehouse puts rehab in spotlight
By Sue Zeidler
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rehab has never been hotter in Hollywood, and nowhere was that more apparent than on Sunday at the Grammy awards with British singer Amy Winehouse's five big wins, more than any other artist...

Amy Winehouse wins so many Grammys?   :buggedout:

This just proves what I've been saying for years:  awards shows are a scam and are no reflection of true talent or who is actually most deserving.

Must be based solely on record sales.

I'll admit I like her sound and style of singing, but I won't buy her stuff as I'm not going to support her habits. I'll keep my money and spend it on mine.

The Grammys are notorious for giving BS awards for decades.  That said, it doesn't mean that they sometimes don't get it right.  There weren't too many records that I heard last year I liked nearly as well as Back To Black.  It's really quite good.

I hate award shows of any kind, not just the Grammys.

They seem superficial and insincere and are populated by all these people who get paid more money than God for doing little more than pretending to be other people or putting out any old drivel as far as music goes.

Worse still, there seems to have been an explosion in recent years of people who are just famous. Period. I mean, they might have done something to become famous at some point, but they don't seem to be doing much of anything these days except getting publicity. I have to admit there are a few celebrities out there who are a complete mystery to me, as in I have no idea what they're famous for.

AMY WINEHOUSE is famous for issuing two superior albums, the latter one, Back To Black, is superb.  She also wrote all of the songs.  A very troubled lady, indeed, but also enormously talented.

Oh, for sure. Amy Winehouse is making music, which is a point in her favour. I was making more of a generic comment in response to Killer Bees. This link sums it up pretty well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famous_for_being_famous
