Recently I've been reminiscing about the late 80's and early 90's and all the fun times I had back then.
Yes, I listened to metal...
But I also listened to the pop dance music too.

I've done searches for some of the music I used to listen to and it all surprisingly holds up well today!

Like this song by KLF...remember this one?
3AM Eternal

And how could I forget Snap!
I had a bumpin' stereo back in the day and I used to crank this song all the time.
The Power

Technotronic was a big favorite of mine way back when...
Pump Up the Jam

Dance music nowadays just ain't what it used to be.
How about you?
Do you dig late 80's/early 90's dance music?

Got a favorite song from back then?
Post the video!

The only 90's dance song that I really like is Close to you by Fun Factory.

Wow, when I think of late 80s/early 90s dance, none of that came to mind at all, but now that you mention it, I remember it being pumped on the airwaves of candy pop stations and Empty-V though.  But I immediately thought of what was playing at the clubs at that time: Skinny Puppy, Lords of Acid, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, the Orb, stuff like that.  Early 90s techo was some of my favorite stuff, although some of what I mentioned falls more in the industrial camp (but Hell, can't for the life of me remember the names of the groups who did the techno songs as there were so many).

But yeah, I remember CnC Music Factory, Snap, and the like ...I also remember discovering that the people singing in the videos were not the actual singers at all lol -kinda Milli Vanilli-esque, but still, some of those songs were pumpin!  This post kinda reminds me of Nena Cherry's "Buffalo Stance" which is an MP3 I just had to get the other day!

I need some help identifying a female singer.
I used to have a single of hers and remember my sister borrowing it but cannot for the life of me remember the name of the song or her name.

She released it in either 1990, 1991 or 1992.
For some reason I'm leaning towards 1990 or 1991.

She was a white chick with long brown hair and was very attractive.
As far as I know, the song I'm thinking of was her only hit.
It was a pop/dance song that got a moderate amount of airplay.

I've done numerous searches and can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
I'll know her name when I see it.

If you know, or could point me to a website that lists female solo artists from any of those three years, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks!

Taking a shot in the dark here but was it Jane Child?  "Don't wanna fall in love ...whoa-oh-oh-ohwa...cuts just like a knife...woo-ewww-wooo-ewww...but the knife feels good...bay-a-bay"

omg I remember a little too much of that one...and it's probably not what you were thinking about at all lol.  My mind's drawing a blank at the one hit wonders of the time...

...except for the 90s hit from De-lite, "Groove is in the heart" - that song still gets some airplay...great dance club hit.

Nope...it's neither of them.  (I know those songs well)

I searched for over an hour last night and had no luck.
For some reason I keep thinking her name is Stacy something. (not Stacy Q)
She looked kind of like Paula Abdul only better.  And her album came out just after Abdul's.

Aaarrgh!  This is driving me nuts trying to remember.

Sorry, Ash, not enough info for me to help; I get a bit hazy in that era, as I bought more and more old music in those days and less new stuff.  I did have the cassingle of this one:

NENEH CHERRY, "Buffalo Stance..." yes, had that cassingle, too!  I also have her on the RED, HOT & BLUE collection, doing COLE PORTER (supposedly).  Of course, you have good taste, BELA.     Remember "I've Got You Under My Skin"?

Still no luck finding that female artist I was looking for.
I'm gonna try posting on Yahoo Answers to see if anyone there knows.

Tell you what...I'll give 5 karma points to the person who can tell me her name or point me to a website that has her on it.
I've tried Wikipedia, one-hit-wonder websites...you name it.  I also have tried about a hundred different searches on Google using different keywords to no avail.
I must've spent over an hour earlier scrolling through endless lists trying to spot her name and even tried Billboard.com but without a membership, the search results are extremely limited.

I remembered another early 90's group I used to listen to quite a bit.

Aha!  I found her!   :hot:

Her name is Stacy Earl.

The single I had was for Love Me All Up which was a popular dance track in 1992.

I couldn't find the video for that song online but here's another song she did that you might remember...

I never would have come up with STACY EARL.  Glad you found her.  There's still two instrumental recordings that I have sought for at least 30 years that were used on NY TV; I can hear them in my head, but don't know the names.  When I hunt something I remember, it makes me crazy until I find it.  (I gave up on my two pieces long ago...)  Most times, I find what I'm looking for.

Now that you mention it, Don't Wanna Fall In Love by Jane Child was a pretty good song!
All she needed was a better hairdo.
