I don't drink soft drink and haven't for a long time.  I can't actually find soft drink that's made with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.

Up here Irn Bru is almost an alternative national drink. It's like an orange coloured (but not flavoured) soda which I think is supposed to resemble molten metal.

I looked up Irn Bru and it sounds interesting, and apparently some US companies import it but the FDA lists it as a banned substance 'cause of carcinogenic coloring.  Booooo



I heard on the radio yesterday that they had had to alter the recipe for Irn Bru to remove the offending colouring. Perhaps thet should really do that here too.

In South Africa, it's always safer to stick to brand name colas like Pepsi and Coca-Cola as there are far too many drinks that are labelled  ____ Cola or Cola _____ and you really don't know what you're getting until you're on your knees in front of the toilet. 

My parents like a brand called Big C Cola which is one of those strange drinks as well as the brands that our local chainstores Shoprite, Checkers and Pick 'n Pay put out. Those give me major stomach pains and way too much gas, so I steer clear of them.
