DAN HICKS wrote a song and recorded it with DAN HICKS & HIS HOT LICKS "I Scare Myself" (it's on Striking It Rich) which was covered a decade later by THOMAS DOLBY on his second full album, The Flat Earth.  It's a good song, fully realized by HICKS but completely humorous in his hands, and transformed into a forlorn observation with a heartbreakingly subtle late-night arrangement that haunts dreams... THOMAS DOLBY is a very talented songwriter, but a superb interpreter....I love that cover, probably my favorite, can't recommend The Flat Earth enough (it's out of print stateside... )

Thanks, Killer Bees, I have that CD.    I am into recordings still, a longtime (long ago) LP buyer, and now buy CDs too often, including imports and used.  I have a stack of about 20 unopened, some have remained sealed for years!  I'm not exactly crazed, but I'm really into my music.
