Wait, wait. Are you telling me all those movies that have 5', 100-lb girls shooting a huge gun in each hand are lying to me?

This also reminds me of the time my friend's Dad thought it would be a great idea to take us out in the field and show us how to shoot his elephant gun.

I've fired one of these. A friend had one and let me try it out on a firing range. He showed me the proper stance, advised me to watch for the kick, etc. I was firing at a silhouette-style target. I aimed and squeezed the trigger. Even with ear protection, it was deafening. I hit the target in the middle of the forehead, and the shell casing ricocheted off of the ceiling, came down and nailed me in the forehead. So I got two headshots in one. Is that a record?

I've seen this before and it cracks me up every time. The one thing I notice is that she seems to be fairly familiar with guns in that her stance and all seems to be correct....but her two handed grip was just not there for a gun with this kind of recoil.

One of the youtube commentators was like, "She needs to lock her wrists!" Dunno if that was her mistake or not. Or maybe some people just shouldn't hand certain calibers.

I don't really know, never fired a real gun before (but would like to someday. Maybe there's a range I can rent one from...)

I had a similar thing happen to me, but it was a small, two shot derringer. There was basically no grip, and I'm used to gripping with the third finger & pinkie. Without that the gun slipped up and hit me in the forehead. I felt like such a dumbass.

Desert Eagles are monstrous handguns. If I remember right, they are 6lbs unloaded (and those rounds are heavy). Even with all that weight, they kick like a mule. Everyone who I have seen with one at a range bought it because it's the most powerful semi-auto available, but they are terrible at shooting it. Once I even had a guy removed from the range because he was too dangerous trying to handle the firearm.

Give me a 1911 .45 any day. If I need more firepower than that, I'll get a shotgun or a rifle.

I've got one of these, the Mark XIX .50 cal with a 10 barrel. My step dad was a gun collector (his kids hate guns) so when he died I got some of his guns, being a retired Col. who was in MACVSOG I got some fairly exotic stuff. The Desert Eagle is a beast of a handgun, but man is it fun to fire.

I've fired a lot of weapons in my time, but never one as powerful as the Desert Eagle looks. I think I would break some fingers with this one.

If I remember correctly, Christopher Walken uses one in The Rundown and in one scene where he is walking towards camera, it looks as though the weight of the pistol is pulling him to one side.

IMI/Magnum Research sells many different guns under the Desert Eagle name. They even have a Baby Eagle in 9mm, .40, and .45....but their big selling guns are the magnums. I have considered the purchase of their .357 magnum autos but when I have held them, the grips just seem too big and awkward...plus, they are on the pricey side.

I remember when the DE .50 AE came out. I was in Pittsburgh visiting my father and we went to the indoor range he was a member of. They had one sitting there to rent. It cost $20 to rent it and you had to buy the ammo from them....$20 for 5 rounds. I asked why they only give you 5 rounds and he said he hasn't met anyone that is willing to shoot more than that. Still...too pricey for me to try out as much as I wanted to.

Yep if I had to pay for one I wouldn't have one, I rarely shoot it and haven't in a couple of years because the rounds are so expensive. When I inherited this one it had about 50 rounds with it, I still have most of them. It's cool but as about as practical as boobs on a boar hog.
