Seems the actor is showing signs of Alzheimer's, he announced today in the event he may not be able to later.

You cut out his brain, you bloody babboons!

It's a shame that this is happening to him (or to anyone). At least he's getting the chance to break the news himself, and carry himself with strength and dignity considering  what lies ahead for him. That has to be a daunting burdon to bear, to be clearheaded enough now to know what this disease will do to his mind. Especially knowing that as the disease progresses, it will erode his faculties, awareness, and the features that made up his personality and identity.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of his acting ability (I think he is very underrated) or his politics (I don't agree with him on many subjects), you have to respect his resolve and courage.

I'm not sure, but I'm fairly certain damn dirty apes are behind this...

Brock

Don't worry, though.  He's announced that he will finish out his term as president of the NRA despite the Alzheimers.

Apparently he's forgotten how deadly guns are.

Susan

I kinda like the fact that moses is the president of the NRA

Particularly since I always see him both ways, as the religious figure and the gun wielding badass of his 60's-70's flicks.

Chuck's the man. Planet Of The Apes, Omega Man, Soylent Green, he's the man. He has that Shatner-esque quality of walking the fine line between cool and unintentionally hilarious. Can you see him with Alzheimer's? "Get your stinkin' paws off me, you damn dirty ape!". "Mr. Heston, I'm your nurse,". "You look like an Egyptian ape. Let my people go, Monkey Pharoah!!!"

Susan

It's a madhouse! A Maaaadhouse!

Clearly he holds the record for some of the best lines in cinema..if anything for the way he delivers them.

Damn you all to hell!

He is my president. I'm the NRA. Scary, ain't it? No, Brock, he knows how deadly guns are....and that its always a person who makes them that way. Andrew uses guns all the time. Do you fear him? Andrew and Heston have at least one thing in common. A love for what American can be and should be, and an acceptance of personal freedom and responsability. I respect that. (Thats more then one thing, ain't it?). As for the farewell speech, he has grace, dignity, and a love of the english language. How many american actors can do Shakespear, and do him justice? (Sigh)....i miss eloquant writeing......where has style and skill gone in hollywood? Hah. If it ever returns, its when Satan is building snowmen!

While I think many of his interventions as the NRA president border insanity, I'm gonna miss Heston if he stops working now. Not only he is one of the few actors from his generation that are still alive and kicking, but he has also managed not to loose his acting skills or to turn into a caricature of himself (see the "Hamlet" by Kenneth Branagh, where he has a minor role, if you don't believe me). Not to mention he had the bollocks to appear in such things like John Carpenter's "In the mouth of madness", Oliver Stone's "Any given Sunday"... or Jean Calaude Van Damme's "The Order".

BTW, Chadzilla, which song are you using as a signature? I haven't ever heard of it and I'm intrigued.

Chadzilla

It's the sea chanty that Quint sings throughout Jaws running the gamut from comical (to Hooper, commenting on the young man's anti-shark cage), melancholic (after his dinner time story), and manic (grinding it out as the shark chases the Orca down).

I liked Branagh's Hamlet. And Charlton's small part as the lead of the acting troup is key. For his own skills as an actor, and how it blended with Hamlet as the films lead. You could sence the insperation that character had on the melencholy dane, and it helped the over all spirit of the story. Or do i pontificate agine? I still miss the days when movie characters were appreciated for eloquance. The Old take on Melvill's Moby Dick was one of the best examples of that....and, the Rough Riders, With Tom Berringer. Bully!

How about Bogart in "Maltese Falcon" explaining why he's not gonna be a sap for the lady?
