I think De Oliveira's "Bare behind Bars" is overrated.  The problem I have with it is the director doesn't seem to have the stomach for the type of movie it tries to be and sells itself as.  guys like bruno Mattei could convey  horror and brutality easily and didn't shy away from it and in fact,  seemed to really enjoy showing it.

Amazon Jail is, I think, better in that it is lighter and more fun.  It's really a comedy, believe it or not.  It's hampered by the fact that not alot of thought was put in to the story so there isn't alot for the viewer to get involved with on that level and it goes somewhat slowly.  But it has alot of nudity, a great antagonist in the ron jeremy looking guy and his bisexual wife and great outdoor south America location.  the between bars soft core action is hilarious, as is the bad dubbing.  recommended

Rev. Powell

I agree with this!  Fun movie, if you have a high tolerance for cheesecake. The line "The festivities devoted to Satan are about to begin" has always stuck in my head.  And, isn't there an unexplained scene where one of the convicts dreams about a hang glider (?!)
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...
