Hi, I heard there was a movie made of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts club band with the Bee Gees as the band , is it good, bad, so bad it's good, or what?

Fearless Freep

I saw it as a kid.

Very, very bad.

Except for Aerosmith covering "Come Together"

Although watching all the cameos and or celebrties is interesting  Amazing how many name people they got into this one

It was bad, but I liked it as a kid. ( I liked the BeeGees too.)

So bad it hurts. But since I hate Aerosmith, I enjoy watching Steven Tyler fall to his death. Hehehe.

When I was a kid, a relative gave me a jumbo box card set for the movie. Baseball card gum (yum), and tons of cards with scenes from the movie. The back of the cards could be arraigned to show a big publicity still/poster from the movie, about 3' X 4'. I think it's still put away in storage.

Any kitsch value enough in it for me to consider finding it and putting it on Ebay?

Didn't George burns sing "When I'm 64" even though he was already 86???:) And Steve Martin singing 'Maxwells Silver Hammer"..that was horrible... I liked Alice Coopers version of "Because" though:)

Fearless Freep

> George burns sing "When I'm 64"

George Burns sang "Fixing A Hole"

"When I'm Sixty Four" was, I believe, Mr.Mustard (Frankie Howard)

George Burns sings? UGH! I'm sorry I asked now!

Vermin Boy

Horrible movie, but I've found that the more "out there" numbers (Steve Martin's "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," Alice Cooper's "Because") are good for spicing up mix CDs.

George Burns used to work songs and a little softshoe routine into his stage act . Of course in his MUCH later years (he had so many later years), it was more like he recited the lyrics and shuffled in time on stage.

You're right, Vermin Boy, about those songs being good for spicing up mix CDs. I personally like to throw "Constipation Blues" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins or "Hikky-Burr" by Bill Cosby into the mix for that unique "WTF" transition.

Sorry I didn't know that Burns sang. What other celebrities were in it apart from Steve Martin, Aerosmith and Alice Cooper?

Fearless Freep

Donald Plesence
Bee Gees
Billy Preston
Peter Frampton
Tina Turner
Bonnie Raitt
Wolfman Jack
Robert Palmer

Actually, those last four were just among the many celebrities who had a walk-on at the end. Earth, Wind, and Fire had a number, too, IIRC, and Carol Struycken (the giant on Twin Peaks, Lurch in the Addams Family movies) has a role, but unfortunately never sings.

That's "Carel" for those trying to find him on IMDB :)

Anyone seem him in Oblivion? and Oblivion 2?  I thought he was great as thje undertaker (Gaunt)  who always showed right before someone died, so everyone
s afraid of him.
