Me. Yes me.

There aren't many of the classic South African movies from 1916 onwards that are getting released on DVD before Christmas 2008.

No, not many.

Just 200 of the things.  :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout:

Seems my dream is coming true of walking into this music shop www.musica.co.za and seeing the classics of Africa's oldest film industry for sale to the public.  :teddyr:

I think that the DVDs will be available for sale on that website too, so all of you can enjoy my country's rich film history too.

Congratulations Trevor, that's sweet!  I've read something of yours before and I think you'll do a great job.  It's also great that they're releasing all those films on DVD!  A real piece of your country's history will be available for everyone to enjoy.

Remember, guys like me like to know if there's any boobies in a movie, so that information should be featured prominently on the box  :teddyr:

Sorry Jack: I know this is going to hurt but below is the list of films I've done so far:

JANNIE TOTSIENS [Johnny Farewell]: No boobies.
KATRINA: No boobies.
WILD SEASON: No boobies even though it was filmed at sea. Not even wet ones.
ONGEWENSTE VREEMDELING: No boobies.
KIMBERLEY JIM: No boobies, just Jim Reeves singing about a lady with dimpled knees.
LIED IN MY HART / SONG IN MY HEART: No boobies, not even in Vienna where it was partly filmed.
KRUGER MILLIONS: No boobies, just a lot of South African gold.
THE FOSTER GANG: No boobies shown in 1914.
JY IS MY LIEFLING: A love story, but no boobies.
KOM SAAM VANAAND: no boobies, it's a musical.
SHANGANI PATROL: no boobies, just the boob commanders.
CRAZY PEOPLE: No boobies.
BLINK STEFAANS: No boobies.
KALAHARI HARRY: No boobies.
TOLLA IS TOPS: No boobies.
TAXI TO SOWETO: No boobies.

Very Cool, Trevor.  Congrats.

Thanks for the kind wishes, ulthar.

I might probably be doing some audio commentaries for some of them, i.e. the ones I know well and will make specific reference to los underpants in the ones I do.  :teddyr: :teddyr:

Cool gig you got there Trevor, my friend.  I hope you'll remember us little people when you make it big.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Andrew

Break out the thesaurus!  I hope you will grace the descriptions with lots of colorful words, such as: lurid, soul-devouring, tempestuous, raw, beyond humanity, and so forth.

I've always wanted to write a DVD cover for "It's a Wonderful Like" that went that route.

Very cool. If you do some audio commentaries, be sure to post a list of the movies.

I made it big a long time ago, Trek: when I joined this site's family. Note: not a online community but a family.

My reviews, blurbs, etc are mostly from my book Riding The High Wind but some numb nuts at the company releasing these classics has already told me via someone else that I should cut my reviews down to 50 words. I don't think so.

Thanks, Andy, I will do so.

I approached the company that owns these titles and asked about extra features on the DVD, like audio commentaries etc and said that I would do them and get the filmmakers to talk about what they did and why.

His reply was (and I kid you not) "What's an audio commentary?"  :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout:
