I've past through Lancaster, Ca. while going towards the Eastern Sierra Mounatian range a couple years ago, but didn't know about the musical side road. Edwards Air Force Base is just outside of town. If you watch the other clips you can see the grooves in the road that cause the musical sound.

Apparently the musical moment road was installed as a promo by Honda. There were complaints from people living in the area that although people in their cars heard a melody, the folks living in the area heard an annoying high-pitched whine when cars drove over the road. The local government is paving over the musical patch soon.

'Musical Roads' are used in some places in Asia as a way to alert drivers of dangerous patches and to keep them from falling asleep at the wheel.

Some stretches of Interstate highways around here should play the PSYCHO theme.
