  The series has a lot of potential - engaging back story and characters, quirky humour, action, weird stuff.  But you know that feeling you can get when you are just getting into a new TV show and something makes you think, "I like it.  It's never going to last"?

I'm there.  I want to see more - and my gut tells me it is going to be a limited supply.  I even checked out the books at the local bookstore (although I understand the books and the TV series are not one and the same story-wise).

It's a shame really that I cannot find it in myself to commit to a series that is popular -  the ones I really like tend to go bye-bye in a heartbeat.   :bluesad:

Newt- I agree. The show has been growing on me with every ep I watch.
Problem is that unless a series captures some mainstream audience, like BSG; SciFi channel won't keep it for long, and if they do the showings are so sporatic, they lose their audience and eventually disapear.

There were a lot of changes between the books and the series.  Harry is really a smart ass (especially to evil folks) and he drives an old blue (sometimes with different color body parts) VW beetle because wizards and electronics don't mix. Bob is an elemental spirit who stays in the skull and is obsessed with sex (Harry bribes him with magazines like Juggs).  He does occasionally get out by inhabiting Harry's 20lb cat named Mister.

The books are very violent and gory and feature werewolves, vampires, fairies, demons, ghosts, and all other sort of creatures.

If you like the series you should try the books out.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

It's so bad that the show got cancelled, I would have expected another season and maybe the appearance of Molly Carpenter as a guest character.
And, Paul Blackthorne is so awesome as Harry.  :bouncegiggle:

Didn't watch much of the series, but the books are freaking AWESOME!  You should check them out ASAP.

Jim H

Yeah, the books are really good.  Jim Butcher is also a Missouri-resident, and came to my local Border's once.  Cool guy.

The series seemed pretty mediocre from what I saw of it.  The most disappointing aspect was how little actual magic is used.   I hear that aspect improves as the series goes on though.

I started the series a couple of months ago and am about to start book three.  One and two were great.  I would highly recommend this series.

I never saw the TV series so I can't say much about that.
